So I have a controller that I got for Xmas like last year and It had a battery plug in play pack, Well a few months ago the battery pack seemed to have died, So recently I switched to real batteries but the controller only blinks twice when I hold in the Xbox button and then shuts off, I also tried using USB it turns on but soon as I hit a button it turns off

-Connect a controller to your Xbox One with a USB cable. Keep any headsets connected to the controller.
-Connect to Xbox Live.
-Press the Menu
-Go to Settings > Devices & accessories. Select the controller.
-If you have multiple controllers attached, you can select Buzz - which will cause the selected controller to vibrate.
-Then select Update to download the new firmware to the controller attached via the USB cable, and the screen will show the Updating controller ... progress screen
-When you see the Controller updated screen, press 'B' to go back to the Devices & accessories main page
-Reselect the controller, the Firmware version, should now be: 1.2.2236.0

are the batteries in correctly ?
is controller damaged at all?

should be able to put the battiery pack back in hook to USB let it charge and then it should work

or you will need to resync controller

Yeah the batteries are in correctly, because the Light turns on and blinks twice and shuts off, I tried syncing it but it won't do anything.
the controller isn't damaged it's been barley used since the battery pack I had for it died.

That's strange, my Controller (Elite) has just come across an issue as well.

Personally this sounds like an issue with the input voltage, some times it's not enough to keep the power on which causes it to turn off. My advice would be to keep it on charge for a full 24 hours without touching it. Once you've done that, try again.

Edit: also check the 2 metal clips here:

Some times they bend out of place meaning a shortage. If they're out simply push them back into the slots.

Power cycling didn't work, still blinks twice and then shuts off, Gonna try leaving it plugged in for awhile maybe that will fix it, it's my only controller with the headphone jack which kinda sucks
