I have a 01 Camaro Z28

I was driving home from work and got on highway and I starting accelerating and lost entire engine power, I couldn't accelerate and I also lost power steering, I pull over and try to start it and it wouldn't start, it'd turn over to the point where it would start but it wouldn't catch to the point where it'd stay idling. It's got 120,000 miles on it

Any body have any similar experiences with and vehicle?

Do you have an aftermarket ignition system? (MSD, Crane) if so they're famous for crapping out. It's probably spark related as it died suddenly, also are you on original 02 Sensors? As they age they can cause your you to run rich, not probably the problem, but you are that's also something you should look into. My suggestion is send it to a local mechanic and let them check it.

It's all Original manufacture for the ignition system as for the O2 sensors I just replaced the one before the CAT on the driver side, as far as I know it has AC Delco parts in it. The few things it could be is the ECM PCM or a crankshaft sensor.

Not the Cat and the fuel line as pressure so not that either, it's weird tho when I turn it over it smells like unburnt gas, it's something relating to the ignition.

I'll give updates in a couple days

Fun thing to do, have your foot push all the way on gas pedal when you start it, still not sure what it could be, crank shaft sensor or icm or something else /:

When the car starts are you able to hold it on when keeping revs really high?

Also was it jolting before it cut out? Could be an injector issue, either faulty or misfiring, had that issue once.

Alternatively could be a fuel pump/alternator issue.

Best thing to do would be to run diagnostics on the injectors and see that they are all working fine.

Any more info you could provide would be helpful though.

Is it throwing a engine light if so its most likely a sensor. If it is throwing a light then take it to your local auto parts store and have them do a diagnostic and post the code here.

I have a scanner it throws up P1518 and I can keep the engine on by revving it but the exhaust just smells entirely like gas(if you own a quad that's the kind of smell it lets out) I'm leaning more towards the ICM or TAC
