Tired of being a console pleb and playing few to no PC games on my laptop. I now want a decent build that'll be able to play most games at decent settings properly.

What is your budget and currency? $700 USD
Do you need a monitor? Yes
Do you need a keyboard? No
Do you need a mouse? No
Do you need an operating system? Yes
What will you use the PC for? Gaming

Price of monitor and OS does not need to be included in budget, I'm fine with going over budget for those two, no problem.

I don't care about color scheme or anything like that, not picky.

You can use Windows 10 for free, or buy a key for <$30 pretty easily. Just don't pay nearly $100 for your OS because that would be a huge waste of money. I tried to stay as close to $700 with the monitor as I could, but I just included a basic 1080p monitor. I'd really be trying to get something higher end than 1080p at this point though, so here are a couple of alternative choices;

I have this monitor, love it and it's a really good price IMO, but if you don't like/want ultrawide, then it's useless, so here's another choice;

starting to get pretty expensive but it's a pretty decent 1440p monitor for $200 which is not bad, and this monitor would easily last you another couple of GPU cycles.

Lastly, if you wanted to go with Intel instead of AMD, you could grab an i3-8100 but you'd have to wait for cheaper Coffee Lake motherboards to launch to be able to get it for the same price as the R3 1200 and B350 motherboard. Right now, with the i3 you would have to get a Z370 motherboard and that means you end up paying $50+ more for an i3 over the R3, which is just not worth it at all.
