Hello, so I'm honestly not too much of a gamer. I play here and there but that's it. I use a 10$ keyboard I got from Best buy about 1.5 years ago because it is silent, makes litterally like no noise at all lol. I love it but I'd really like to try a mechanical keyboard.. but I just don't know which switch to get with the keyboard.. I don't necessarily want to spend 10$ for a sampler thing, but I don't think any stores around me have keyboards out to try... I don't want a super loud switch... And my fiance types alot here and there for school so if that's a thing to make it not hard to push that would be cool...

Off topic I also use a cheap mouse lol.. but again never has been an issue.. I bought a cheap "gaming" one for 12$ off Amazon to try and depending on how that goes I might try looking at more expensive ones..

Thanks for any suggestions!! If you have suggestions for a mouse, throw it at me and I'll take a look!

So I have had everything from clicky loud blue switches to somewhat quite brown switches. No matter what type of mechanical keyboard you get, you will experience an audible "click". Now, there are two different types of clicks you might hear. One of these clicks is caused by the actual switch mechanism and the other is the sound of the switch bottoming out on the switch post (or board plastic).

This chart is a good representation of what all the key types offer you.

I personally don't recommend spending $100s to get a "nice" keyboard.

I have had the:
Corsair K70 RGB - Great Keyboard but I wanted a click.
Razer Black Widow (pre new switches they have now) - Nice keyboard. Has some weight to it.

I currently use A Redragon K552 KUMARA. I watched a few reviews about it, because I gave my old keyboard away. It only costs 30$ and will give you a good Idea of what the mechanical keyboards are about.
The only problem is that this one can get pretty load. You can fix this by buying dampening O-rings to stop the keyboard from bottoming out.

The K552 has outemu switches, a louder click then standard MX blues. You will need 0.02mm dampers or larger to match the proper sound.

If you want the experience go with it. there is nothing wrong with redragon products personally I use the Mammoth/K552 both work perfect for my needs and are fairly cheap. The tracking is good on the Mammoth, and the click and action response is slightly faster then my chroma.

I use MX Blues. If you're looking for a nice typing experience that isn't too loud, get something with MX Browns and put some o-rings on the keys.

I'm thinking about going with this one I think.. It's cheap so if I don't like it, I won't be out that much lol

EDIT: In the suggested section I found plenty more keyboards for around the same price so I might choose one of these now..

Not a single one of those use Cherry MX switches. Especially not the K55, a ridiculously over priced membrane keyboard. If you like the K55, get a K65 or K70.

As the post above me said. None are cherry, one is membrane, and the others are outemu.

If you really want to just get the grasp on mechanical switches, go with redragon, eagletec, or any of the cheap brands with Outemu Blues, they are the equivelant to the MX Blues with a more tactile feel IMO.

There is no major difference between the two. You will have close to the same click and feel. Redragon really outdid themselves in the last two years since I swapped in and out of their products much more quality feeling than a lot of the other brands I've used. Nice weighted keyboard, the mice are all weighted if I am not mistaken, adjustable at that.

On this list is similar to what I have minus the mouse, I've used it before, it competes well with my mamba, just not as light. This will get you started, on well really all you need to know about them. You can choose a damper color of your liking, i just went with red, since it matched the theme, not like you'll be seeing them anyways. You might want to get a keycap puller like $3-5 the included one may scratch the keys. The mouse cable is braided, and the keyboard isn't but both are durable, just don't jagged edge the braided cable a lot, it will tear, but not enough to expose anything in the 3ish years I've had mine.
