Batman Ninja (2018)

Early October at NYCC, DC announced the superhero anime movie, Batman Ninja.

Yesterday, two teaser trailers for Batman Ninja dropped -- and they're great.

Japanese Version.

There isn't an official synopsis yet, but according to the trailer, it seems like Batman gets transported in an old-fanished Japan where he must fight against the Joker and some other DC villains. You know, the good, typical superhero stuff. Some of the characters seen in the trailer include Robin, Red Hood, Gorilla Grodd and Deathstroke. Don't worry, there's a bunch more.

Anyway, the trailer states that the movie is "a new Batman story from the top creators of Japan", so that's pretty cool, I guess. But who are these "top creators"?

To start off, the movie's character designs are going to be done by Takashi Okazaki. He's the guy who illustrated and wrote the Afro Samurai manga. From the looks of the trailer, the characters' designs and outfits/costumes seem dope. But that's just my opinion.

Judge for yourself -- here are some stills.

The movie's scripts are going to be done by Kazuki Nakashima. Nakashima worked with the production of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill.

The guy in charge of the movie's sound/music is going to be Yugo Kanno. He was the sound composer for some well known anime such as Psycho-Pass, Ajin: Demi-Human and Blame!.

Batman Ninja's animation going to be done by Kamikaze Douga, a Japanese animation company who specializes in mixing CG animation with hand drawn, 2D animation. Yes, it's gonna have CGI in it. Anyway, you've probably seen their work before, as they're the ones behind the first opening of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. To add on, the director of the movie is going to be Jumpei Mizusaki. And guess what? He's the one who directed the same Jojo opening, ayyyy!

Here's the opening. Give it a watch. It's beautiful.

Batman Ninja is set to be released in 2018.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited for this to release. In the past I wasn't really a fan of the whole "3D CGI" thing, but after watching some pretty good shows that incorporated that, such as Ajin, I'm cool with it. As long as they do a good job with it, that's all that matters to me. And from the looks of the trailer, I got no problems. In the past there have been another, sorta-anime Batman movie, called Batman: Gotham Knight. It was alright, imo. Definitely not the best thing I've seen, but definitely not the worst. I'm expecting Ninja to be a whole lot better considering the team behind it.

But here's something that I'm not looking forward to: it's going to be rated PG-13.

What are your thoughts on this upcoming movie?

I seen something about this yesterday, i was not enthused lol. Overall i guess it's pretty cool. Never been a fan of batman, or DC in general. BUT, This could possibly lead to similar future releases, opening a whole new window. So im curious to see how well it actually performs.

I like Batman, but I don't like anime, and this is causing me internal conflict.
