I've been asked to be an auditor for my job, traveling around to all the other stores taking inventory. I really want to do it - but my manager just told us how much she loves her crew and id feel like crap if I left my team and they had to go through the trouble of retraining someone and it not working out...what do?
Basically a promotion within less than a full 2 months of working here.

I'd go for it, they would understand about leaving for a promotion. You could try and find someone YOU know would be a good replacement and be a good asset to their team, and refer them to your manager?

That would be a good idea, it's just I don't know many people who are self disciplined enough for the job. Mind you I SUCKED at first. I dropped everything, I messed up change, i didn't speak up to customers, and barely had conversations.
Now I have people coming in lighting up holding a long conversation with me as soon as they walk in and see me at the register.
It's a small town so it means a lot to me that all these people are happy to see me on a daily basis.
Part of me doesn't want to leave because if that reason as well..

It is really nice that you care so much about your company. I'm just not sure that it makes complete sense at this stage though. I say take the promotion. Whoever takes your spot could be just as good as you or have friends that also shop there just because they work there.

I think it is a good idea to take the promotion.

That sounds super fun. I'd deinitley do it if you're not tied to anyone or anything at home. May I ask what company you work for?

Hm.. well if a promotion is what you want, your manager shouldn't look down on you for it, you're taking an initiative to make you life better, and she should respect that.

I sort of felt the same feeling when I had to leave my job for a new job and my store manager cried that I was leaving, but in the end she just wanted the best for me.

Hope this has some insight for you, just follow what you want, and if the promotion is what you want, by all means, go for it~!
