Maybe you are right, 64gb is overkill. But all I'm saying is I could potentially be using up to 18gb of RAM for some audio sessions, in which case 32gb sounds like it would hold up; on paper at least. I just wonder how slow the pc would run while over half the ram is being used (when that happens to my laptop things get sketchy). If I go with the 2x16, and it ends up I don't want to upgrade to the 64gb, is it okay to only use 2 of the RAM slots? or is it better for performance/longevity to use all slots?

I think because this is my first build I might go with an easier fan. I can always add a water cooling fan later. I'm going to sacrifice looks and most likely get a nh-d15. It looks like a solid fan for performance and noise emission, and I think keeping the system cool will help things last longer. I was also looking into the Dark Rock Pro 3 you mentioned. It seems to be very similar; even quieter, but around 5 degrees warmer. Now, does 5 degrees make a difference when trying to get the most longevity out of the pc's parts? To be honest, I have no idea.

Either way, everything is the same as last build except 32gb RAM instead of 64. And Either a Dark Rock Pro 3 or a nh-d15

I am going out of town the 17th-24th, would you recommend I wait until I get back to order the parts and build it?

Man, I'm sorry I have so many questions.

Hey y'all!
Just want to say thanks for all the advice and help on my first build! It was SUPER helpful and made me feel more confident with the process. I put it all together and it powered up on the first boot. It's looking good and I think running good. Here's the final build I went with:

I am running into one small problem. The 140mm case fans I ordered are too wide for the case. Do you think a 120mm should do the trick?

Also the Dh-15 fan I used is huge. I thought it'd be a breeze because that's what a lot of people were saying. That was not the case with this tiny case I got. It was SUPER difficult maneuvering around it. I ended getting everything plugging in right but when I went to put the side of my case on the close it up; it didn't exactly fit. The only reason is because this enormous fan.
I lowered the fan as much as it could go. It is sitting right above my 4 sticks of ram. I had to put some pressure (not a lot) on the fan to get the case shut.

I can see the fan right on top of the ram and it is putting some pressure on all the ram sticks. Is this okay? It's not too much pressure but the fan is pushing on the ram, especially with the case enclosure screwed in. I am kind of worried about my ram, it was one of the most pricey parts of my build and if this is bad in anyway, I got to get a different fan.

I don't think this matters but today it crashed and went to a blue screen with some text. It was up for 2 seconds and then the pc restarted.

Any input is great as always.

Thanks,
Niko
