Well, earlier I posted asking if anyone knew of an Adblock extension for chrome. The answer was no. So I thought of developing an extension to whitelist specified creators, however I decided with just modifying my current adblock to make this possible. Upon digging in the files and creating my own janky JS file I found something that led me to find the adblock I'm using already allows it. Oops.

What does this do for creators on YouTube? Well, YouTuber's earn a majority of there funds from Ad revenue, everyone who views their video using adblock will not gain them any revenue. Yes, I know that its not much money, but pennies make pounds. If you wanna do your part to help out then follow this guide.

Step 1 - Checking you have the compatible adblock extension.

To do this type "Chrome://Extensions" into the URL bar & hit enter. Now scroll and look for your adblock extension. If the ID is "gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom" then your good to go!

Step 2 - Enabling the option.

Go to the following URL " chrome-extension://gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom/options.html " & Select the option "Allow whitelisting of specific YouTube channels (requires restarting your browser)" and restart your browser window. The feature will now be active.

Step 3 - Whitelisting a channel.

Head over to the channel of the user you want to whitelist. Now click the adblock logo and select "Whitelist x Channel". All done. You will now be served ads from that YouTube user.

This may have been widely known. I didn't know about it & I assume some others don't either. Just wanted to share this

Another way to check if you have the channel whitelist option is to simply hit the AdBlock icon and click the "Options" button. It'll bring you to the same page in Step 2. Also, you don't actually have to head over to their channel to whitelist them, you can do it while watching any of their videos.

I, too, just recently found out about this option, lmao. Anyway, I think it's a great feature that should be used more frequently, especially nowadays. At the moment, I only have a couple of channels whitelisted, but I'm planning on expanding that list since there are so many great creators out there.

Thanks for making a topic on this, man!
