To make this short;

There is a girl that a year ago I dated for several months. I ended the relationship and after sometime to reconsider I had came to the conclusion that I had made a mistake.

However, she moved on and was in a new relationship that recently ended that had lasted 6-7 months.

Now, I don't need advice on how to win her over.. I am wondering if I would be seen as a bad guy for trying to win her back when the guy who recently dumped her happens to be an old friend and claims I'd be a shitty person for doing such.

Since he went in for the steal when we broke up.. I don't think I'm in the wrong.

(I understand this sounds like highschool drama but we are adults.. I know pathetic..)

Back to the original question..

Am I an asshole for wanting to pursue her regardless?

I will be actively perusing a relationship with her regardless, I am simply more so curious on how this looks from an outside perspective.

Honestly if you want her do your best to get her (I know I sound like asshole) if you really like her then you should I don't think you would be a shitty person unless you think the other guy was a shitty person.

See this is my thinking..

I never tried to impede on their relationship even though I wanted her.

Now that he dumped her, I see it as fair game..

I'll be better for her than anyone cause that's how much I care..

no you wouldnt be considered a bad guy if anything your friend should be seen that way because he dated your girlfriend after you dated her. Which might sound weird but its like an unwritten rule, you dont date people your friends dated, atleast thats what i go by. But no you would not be seen as an asshole

Well we were old friends.

After her and I broke up she was still actively trying to peruse me and I didn't give her any interest and he did so she rebounded.

She is the type that couldn't ever leave someone so I'm not worried that she had deep feelings for him.

I don't like being seen as an asshole, but I will win this girsl heart again regardless.

Thanks for the feedback!

You had her first , and he came in and took her after you, which isn't a okay thing in my opinion . But if they actually dated for awhile and she knew that he was your buddy, I probably wouldn't pursue anything..

Well judging from the way you worded it it looks like he decided to snatch her up when you guys ended things so why not go for it after all you did have her first to begin with and imo I think she is rightfully yours but thats just me however good luck on your endeavor.

Go for it man.

See, if this "old pal" of yours thinks its shitty for you to go for her again then call him out for doing that to you when you broke up the first time. If its going to make you happy bro, go for it. Can't worry about this guy, I've been in the same situation. Do it, be happy, life goes on. If he doesn't want to be your friend because of it, then he probably wasn't your friend in the first place. Good luck.
