While yes it is worth upgrading form a 1050ti to a 1060 i would say its more worth it to upgrade form a Athlon to a ryzen. Especially since im sure the Athlon will bottleneck the 1060 (although i could be wrong it may not bottleneck), but I would recommend the cpu upgrade first.

No, a GTX 1060 would not be a reasonable upgrade. Even IF your CPU wasn't holding you back, and your case/PSU were solid, and you had an SSD, I still wouldn't recommend going from a 1050Ti to a 1060, not a large enough jump in performance to warrant the cost.

Honestly, NO. The 1060 is similar in performance as is and isn't enough of a boost to justify the price.

You could stretch your system out a little longer, just sell the old AMD hardware, keep the RAM, HDD, Case(if it is of alright quality, same goes for the PSU). Depending on your budget, and go buy an old i7, 4790k, 3770k/3770, and a motherboard to match, can just look around on eBay, or reddit/(craigslist, not entirely sure about the UK side.)

Ehh, You're looking at 73% faster processing, 76% increase in an average bench, and a 19% increase on games. If he sold his 1050 ti, I think it would be worth it. I do agree that switching to Intel would be more beneficial to him.

An average of 30fps difference for the $60 isn't worth it as you could find used GPU's that surpass the 1060 for the $200 price range CPU > GPU if any "upgrade" is happening.

Eh? I have absolutely no idea where you're getting these numbers from. Regardless, obviously the 1060 is a better GPU, no one is disputing that. What we're saying is that it's not a worthy upgrade. With a 6GB 1060, his CPU is going to start holding him back. If OP is ONLY playing games that are GPU heavy, his CPU won't hold him back and his 1050Ti isn't giving him a comfortable experience, then sure, a 1060 upgrade might be worth it. However, it's still a 90%+ price increase from a 1050Ti to a 1060. If OP sells his 1050Ti for $100, he's still out of pocket another $170+ just to get the GTX 1060. It's just not worth it, other than some very specific situations.

He should be adding an SSD first anyway, and then maybe upgrade case and/or PSU, depending on quality.

Benchmarks buddy, a quick google will tell you that along with you can get a 3gb for 200$. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to upgrading or building. It just depends what it is being used for. I would personally focus on the CPU because its pretty low end and the heart of the PC. It will increase the speed of calculations and can improve FPS on games even if they are not CPU intensive. SSD would hurt either, I love my boot times and time it takes to open applications stored on it.
