Right on the 2nd of September I more then likely torn my ACL when I say more then likely I'm saying that because that's what my Doctor told me so I have but they are waiting for my scan... anyway how long should I leave it before trying to walk again? Because my knee feels better like I can move it a lot and stuff but my doctor said the pain and swelling will go but it can still be in bad shape but I need to start walking to get back into work. So anyone who knows about this stuff how long should I leave it before walking again? Bare in mind I still have to go for a scan.

Sorry if you can't make sense of that but tried to word it good as I can lol

It depends if you partially tore it or fully tore it to be honest. I partially tore my MCL 2 years ago and I started walking again after 2 weeks and then was cleared after another two to play football again.

You can try walking on it, but I would stay away from it so you can rebuild the tissue in your knee faster with help of icing it, keeping it elevated and going to physical therapy.

Seeing as it's only been 11 days since your injury, I would say you are far from being able to return to normal work if your job involves any kind of standing or lifting, depending on the severity of the tear. If it does turn out to be a tear you should be icing it and avoiding putting unnecessary weight on it until you hear back from your doctor. I would wait until your MRI results are back, and depending on if it's a full, partial, or no tear, go from there.

Ask your doctor about a time table for returning to normal work duties, but I'd say anywhere from 2-4 weeks off is a decent amount if your job requires stress on the knee joints.

Yeah that's why I'm pretty skeptical about doing anything before I go back for my scan because I'm not totally sure how bad I've torn it yet but I don't want to loose my job haha!

Yeah I'm a engineer so it can involve heavy lifting sometimes too but as I said I don't want to be loosing a job but can't really do anything at the minute guess I'll just have to wait for my MRI to come back, cheers
