"So, tell them to keep going, he continued. Keep going is what I'll say."

Article:
Twenty-nine-year-old McGregor hasnt set foot inside the Octagon since claiming the lightweight crown at UFC 205 with an emphatic second-round TKO victory over Eddie Alvarez.

The Irishmans hiatus from the cage was initially down to the imminent arrival of his son, Conor Jr, who was born in May.

However, it was extended in June when it was announced that hed take on Floyd Money Mayweather in a multi-million-pound boxing match, which he lost via a tenth-round TKO.

The announcement of McGregors encounter with Mayweather, which took place in Las Vegas on August 26, was met was fierce criticism from a number of fighters in the 155lbs division.

Amongst those irked by McGregors decision to further extend his hiatus from the Octagon is Tony Ferguson, the no.2 ranked lightweight on the planet, who will fight Kevin Lee for the interim lightweight title at UFC 216.

Ferguson, as well as many others, is of the belief that McGregor made a fight with Mayweather his top priority in order to hold on to his third UFC title for as long as possible.

McGregor dismissed that notion during the whirlwind press tour for 'The Money Fight', claiming he turned his focus to entering the boxing world as he didnt feel like there were any viable challenges in the lightweight division.

In all honesty Diaz is the only fight that's going to gain any attention which was close to the Mayweather fight. I just can't see any other opponent which is as much of a money maker

I agree with you, it is the only fight that will earn him those 5 million+ gates.
Unfortunately Diaz is very unlikely to drop to 155lbs and Conor insists he drops weight if he wishes to fight again, as he both won and lost in their Weltertweight fights. Only time will tell, i'd like him to stick his beast of a right hand straight into Fergusons face.

Diaz normally fights at 155 so he shouldn't have trouble getting there. He also knows that that's the only weight which Conor wants to fight at and since Nate has been pretty much begging for this fight then he'll do it. Nate is all about the money now. He's 32 and this is the last time he'll probably fight for a title.

Personally although it would be the money fight, I wouldn't say he deserves a straight title shot. At the moment he isn't in the top 5 contenders for the belt. I wouldn't consider Khabib no.1 contender material as he couldn't cut weight without endangering his life. I'd say it should either go to Ferguson or Lee. But they aren't worth Conors time cause he also only cares about the money.

If somehow Nate decides to make 155 for a fight with Conor, I'd say its a win for Conor. As 155 is Conor's element weight and he did a pretty brilliant job, 15lbs above his weight.
