I had this one but sold it to my friend as he needed it more than me, but was a great Mic, I didn't use it for music though but worked wonders for my youtube videos and my stream, your voice sounds really good in it. 100% would recommend this one mate. is a little pricey though but if you wanna sound like a boss than its 100% worth it mate.

I personally have the Rode - NT1 not the Rode NT1-A as listed above. it all depends on what you are looking for. the NT1-A is a bit cheaper and picks up higher frequency. mine was about $260.00

Honestly, I would go into a local music shop and talk to them over some random person on a video game forum or even best buy. I know the people at my local guitar center have a wealth of knowledge and experience, so I like to go to them before I make some of my purchases.

Best mic IMO is the Audio Technica AT2020, at £100 you cant go wrong and its a very popular mic. You can get the USB version for £50 more if you don't want to pay for a usb audio interface.

As an artist I'll drop some knowledge. The Nt1a and AT2020 are great starter mics for recording! However they are "XLR" mics (unless you get the USB variant). This means that they are higher quality mics, but they need to be powered by an an audio interface (think of it as an external soundcard).

Your choice is whether you want to go for a cheap USB mic to start off, or put in around 250 bucks for a mic and interface combo (which normally sounds better). If you go the latter route, go to your local guitar center and ask for some advice. They might even let you test some mics (cheap ones are AT2020 and NT1a, for interface you might want the focusrite solo)!

If you have any questions just ask.
