6 great movies that were wrecked by their ending

So I just came across this article on the 6 movies that were apparently wrecked by there ending, however, I don't agree with Titanic having a bad ending, or Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King. In my opinion Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King, is the best ever trilogy ever made, and thought the ending was shit hot lol, absolutely love all these movies, really don't understand how it made it on this list. So I just wanted to know what you guys think about this do you agree?

Titanic (1997)

Titanic survivor Rose Dawson Calvert slips peacefully away in the night, aged 101, surrounded by photos depicting a lifetime of happiness.

Her spirit ventures into the deep void to the decaying vessel at the bottom of the Atlantic.

Suddenly, daylight seeps through its windows of this once-mighty ship for the first time in decades.

At the Titanics good-as-new grand staircase, Rose is greeted by the ghosts of the crew and passengers who she shared that fateful voyage with so many years ago.

And then we see him: Jack, her true love, lost in the disaster after saving her life.

They kiss, the spirits cheer, fade to black.

Everyone is happy in the afterlife.

Except, of course, for Mr Calvert. Roses hubby, who she met after the Titanic.

Lets pause and reflect on his world now.

Well, Im very sad Rose has passed on, he must have mused as she slipped into the abyss.

But at least Ill be able to hold my wife of unspecified-number-of-years in my spectral arms again after all this time.

Then imagine his astonished ghost face as Rose blanks him, pings headlong down into the ocean to spend eternity with some bloke she knew for three days and had a one-night stand with instead.

And with whom she didnt even share a life-saving raft with, despite there clearly being room enough on it for the both of them.

In summary, Rose is a monster.

It Follows (2014)

It follows: unremittingly, remorselessly.

It never stops hunting its prey in order to claim a fresh soul.

Until Mr Follows comes across a swimming pool.

When that happens, It, it turns out, is as much a wuss as a dog at bath time.

It (1990)

Many horror fans have fond memories of watching this TV movie adaptation of Stephen Kings masterpiece for the first time.

In hindsight though, its actually a pretty shock-free viewing.

Holding everything together is Tim Currys glorious, scenery-munching performance as Pennywise an ancient, shapeshifting clown who devours children and uses their fear as a tasty condiment.

Its quite possibly the most childhood-ruining piece of acting in 20th Century drama.

So what better way to ruin the finale of a perfectly decent kids Vs demonic-clown caper than by transforming Pennywise into a big, lumbering spider for the final battle in Derrys sewers?

Surely some clown-based psychological horror antics would have been way cooler?

With most of the books memorable set-piece frighteners taken out, its a puzzler why Kings original ending was what the producers thought was essential to the movie.

Still, judging by its bowel-loosening trailer, theres high hopes for Andres Muschiettis update.

Monty Python And The Holy Grail (1975)

Yes, yes, were all aware that the Pythons raison detre was a prolonged bout of hysterical silliness, topped off sans punchline, which is precisely what you get with The Holy Grail.

After the joys of the Black Knight, The Knights Of The Round Table, The Knights Who Say Ni and, er, Tim The Enchanter, King Arthur is about to launch an assault on a bunch of particularly rude Frenchmens castle to claim back the Grail.

And thats when a modern-day police force rocks up in 10th Century Britain to arrest the gang.

And thats it. The film ends. Theres not even any credits rolled.

Its a cop-out. Yeah, we get the joke.

So whats to complain about?

While the no punchline rule works for a three-minute skit, after 90 minutes of following this rather daft-but-epic quest, who wouldnt have wanted to see what happened when Graham Chapmans merry men and the insult-throwing French slugged it out?

A few years later, The Pythons proved you can cheat the audience out of a happy finale and still find a satisfactory conclusion with Life Of Brian.

Now, thats an ending.

Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King (2003)

Sure, theres about 10 hours to get through in the whole Lord Of The Rings saga, so there are a lot of loose ends to wind up.

But seriously, how many false endings does one film need before cinema-goers start feeling like they need to go home to let the cat out?

Alien 3 (1992)

Alien 3 is a perfectly decent shocker with some proper jump-out-of-your-pants moments Charles Dance and Sigourney Weavers fledgling romance being abruptly interrupted, anyone?

And its ending an alien-inseminated Ripley, the central character of the Alien saga, flinging herself into an inferno to prevent the nefarious Company getting its greedy mitts on the DNA of the infant Xenomorph to use as a biological weapon is one of cinemas most iconic moments.

The problem isnt that Alien 3s ending ruins Alien 3. It doesnt

It ruins its predecessor, Aliens.

Aliens starts with Ripley being rescued from her spaceship and discovering, after spending decades in hyper sleep, that shes outlived her daughter.

And it ends with Ripley beating the other-worldly critters and forming a new nuclear family.

Thats where the Alien series should have ended.

But no, Alien 3 rocks up and causes chaos like a drunk at kicking-out time.

I'm offended by the Lord of the Rings one. The trilogy began before the actual main quest of the hobbits even started so of course they're going to show what happens AFTER the ending of their quest; it would have left a huge hole as to what happened to Frodo and Samwise after they finally reached Mordor and were finally able to defeat Sauron.

Yes, the movie was long but it never got boring; at least not 'The Return of the King'. I've watched that movie several dozens of times and never get bored of it; if someone gets bored of LOTR nowadays, it's because they shouldn't have been seeing it in the first place. If we were to compare the two other movies in the LOTR trilogy, 'The Return of the King' was 10x better than the first and maybe 2x better than the second one. That's just my opinion, of course.

also agree Return of the king was probably the best out of all of them. Might I remind us all that The Hobbit movie left out the King of the Eagles and the ending should have been better. The immense build up of the battle of the five armies lasted only a few minutes

Some films I think they missed out on:

Signs
The Village [More of a great concept ruined by the ending, not a great movie.]
I Am Legend
War of the Worlds
Lucy [Not the great movie part here.]
Gone Girl
Buried

I always felt like I Am Legend need a prequel. I feel like it would great leading up to I Am Legend.
