2017 NBA Free Agency: Trades/Signings

In this thread I'll be keeping you, the NBA fan, up to date with all the trades and buzz of the 2017 NBA Offseason. As you may know, things get hectic during this time with all the trade rumors, trade talks, trades, free agents, and all the little bits of drama that happens. I'll make sure to be paying close attention to the trade talks during the 2017 NBA Offseason and keep this thread updated every week if there are trades every week. Gonna be a crazy offseason, huh?

Chris Paul traded to the Rockets

This was one of the biggest trades to be announced during the 2017 Offseason,
even though it was expected for the Clippers to make drastic moves since they're prone to make the Playoffs with an excellent team and always be a huge flop. The Chris Paul era in Los Angeles has officially come to an end. Here's a live view at DeAndre Jordan once the Clippers' trade rumors started to surface.

Trade consisted of: Clippers trading over Chris Paul in exchange for Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, Montrezl Harrell, DeAndre Liggins, Darrun Hilliard, Lou Williams, Kyle Wiltjer along with a 2018 first-round pick and cash considerations.

Paul George traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder

This one really came as a shock to the NBA fandom, seeing as how the rumors were that Paul George would be headed over to his hometown team, the Los Angeles Lakers. I personally think the Thunder got a GREAT deal from this trade and the Pacers really kicked the bucket out from underneath themselves, no disrespect to Oladipo or Sabonis but it seems like they let a star player go for two players who aren't even close to the level that Paul George is. It's still unclear if this is just a play by the Thunder to use George as trade stock as well but it's highly doubtful as the Oklahoma City Thunder need more star players on their team to see if they can actually get past the first round of the Playoffs.

Trade consists of: Pacers receiving Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis while the Oklahoma City Thunder received Paul George.

Dwight Howard traded to the Charlotte Hornets

This was completely unexpected but doesn't surprise me at all. Dwight Howard can't seem to just fit into any team, I think it's because of his drama-queen attitude he's always had.
Remember the Lakers era of Dwight Howard? Yeah, me neither.

Trade consists of: Hornets receive Dwight Howard and the No. 31 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft (player's name is Frank Jackson) while the Hawks received Marcos Belinelli, Miles Plumlee and the No. 41 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft (player's name is Tyler Dorsey).

Jimmy Butler headed to the Minnesota Timberwolves

There was no way to expect this trade ever happening, seeing as how the Chicago Bulls were nothing since the D. Rose trade but Jimmy Butler definitely turned that team around and was leading the team, it was his team. Both teams received good players but I believe the Timberwolves ended up getting Jimmy Butler for a steal.

Trade consists of: Timberwolves receive Jimmy Butler and the No. 16 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft (player's name is Justin Patton) while the Bulls receive Zach Lavine, Chris Dunn and the No. 7 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft (player's name is Lauri Markkanen).

Markelle Fultz traded to the Philadephia 76ers

The No. 1 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft was traded a day before the draft itself by the Celtics over to the 76ers. Not a good trade by the Celtics in my opinion, Markelle Fultz has a lot of potential and could have been a serious threat coming from the bench. Seems like "The Process" is stacking up to give us a better season than their past three seasons, which have been COMPLETE failures but I still enjoy watching the 76ers play.

Trade consists of: The Celtics traded over the No. 1 pick for the No. 3 pick (Jayson Tatum)
and the 2018 Draft Lakers' pick (projected to be No. 1 or No. 6-30).

D'Angelo Russell headed to the Brooklyn Nets

I was expecting this trade to happen, after that little drama that happened between him and Nick Young (WHAT A SNITCH). Magic Johnson stated that the trade was done because "he needed a leader and D'Angelo was not a leader" but... He's going to put his trust as leader into a 19 year old Lonzo Ball who's fresh out of college?

Trade consists of: Nets receive D'Angelo Russel and Timofey Mozgov while the Lakers receive Brook Lopez and the No. 27 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft (player's name is Kyle Kuzma).

Ricky Rubio traded to the Utah Jazz

The Ricky Rubio heat had died down and not many people were talking about him until during this Offseason, the Timberwolves traded the star point guard to the Utah Jazz. Not a fan of the Timberwolves but seems like they didn't consider Ricky Rubio as great a player as some fans as the trade was weak, to say the least.

Trade consists of: Utah Jazz receive Ricky Rubio while the Timberwolves receive a 2018 first-round pick via the Oklahome City Thunder (lottery-protected).

J.J. Reddick signed by Philadelphia 76ers

As the title of this segment reads, J.J Reddick has signed a 1 year, 23 million dollar contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. Seems like "The Process" is also bringing in some veterans to assist the team, to see where this team full of young bucks is headed to. It's going to be exciting to see such a talented 3-pt shooter spread the floor alongside the young 76ers.

Taj Gibson signs 2-year, $28 million with Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed free agent Taj Gibson to a 2-year deal, $28 million dollar contract. Seems like the Thunder couldn't make space to keep him. Thank you for this shot though, Taj.

Paul Millsap headed to the Denver Nuggets

Former Atlanta Hawks star Paul Millsap has signed a 3-year, $90 million contract with the Denver Nuggets. Averaging 18.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game last season, he'll be a great addition to the Denver Nuggets frontcourt.

Kevin Durant reportedly will take bigger pay cut to maintain Warriors superstar core

Kevin Durant, 2017 NBA Finals MVP, has agreed to a big pay cut to keep the team together. He has agreed to a 2-year, $53 million contract; the second year of the contract will be a player option and during the 2017-2018 season, he'll be making $9.5 million less than the amount he could have earned. It's obvious he thinks that winning is much more important than any amount of money but it's reported that in the 2019 season he could be offered a 5-year, $219 million contract to keep him for the long run if everything works out.

Zach Randolph signs with the Sacramento Kings

[align=center][size=12]Former Grizzlies star Zach Randolph has signed a 2-year, $24 million contract with the Sacramento Kings. Seems like the Kings are making some power moves to bring in more veterans into the team. This signing comes right on the heels of signing veteran point guard, George Hill. Will they begin to shine and have potential?

What makes you say the Fultz/1stOA trade was bad? The top 3 picks of the draft, in my mind, have pretty much the same amount of potential and I wouldn't even say Fultz has more potential to be the best out of the top 3/4. If you can trade back and get extra picks, while still getting a player that's on the same level as Fultz, you do it. I don't see anything wrong with the Fultz trade. If anything, Boston came out on top.

Mmmm. Raps re-sign Lowry and Ibaka. Somehow I knew he'd never leave.

Kyle Lowry is loyal to the Raps, I can't imagine him in another uniform. Ibaka's a great player, I'm just sad the Thunder let him go two years ago. Still makes me mad to this day.

I wouldn't say he's loyal, pretty much only signed here again because nobody was going to pay him 3/100 anywhere else and he's lucky the Raps needed a PG so bad.
