I'm going to be working tomorrow and then I've got monday off.

Both of my grandfathers (one of them is dead) were soldiers so I go see the one that's alive and kicking.

Skrt wrote I think it's extremely disrespectful for people to party and get sloppy drunk on memorial weekend. It's one thing to have a beer or two but people treat it as an excuse to go down the shore and party and just get sloppy and I think it's wrong. As for me, I will be working

I don't understand the reasoning here.

Soldiers fought and fight for freedom. If someone is expressing that freedom by getting spandangled with the knowledge that the only reason they can do that is because soldiers fought and died for their freedom then what's the problem?
because it's a time to reflect on what they're doing for our country. Not get sloppy and f everything that moves and flailing yourself all over the place like a drunken idiot lol

I'm not from the states either, but I hope everyone has a nice respectful weekend. Our closes allies in WW1 and WWII, so my thoughts will go out to the soldiers of both countries in the weekend. I'm not a religious person but I always like to say a prayer for fallen soldiers on our answer to memorial day (remembrance day 11th November & remembrance sunday)
