So Christmas is right around the corner and I've decided I was gonna build my self a new desktop! In my current rig I have a 970 and 16 gb of ram which I plan on using in the new build so we don't need to add ram or graphics to the bill. Although I'm not opposed to running sli with another 970?

Budget = 800-1000 usd

What I DONT need = monitor, os, keyboard, mouse, ram, hdd, ssd, or gpu

What I DO need = processor, mobo, psu, case, and any other essential parts I may be missing.

What are the specs of your current rig? May be worth salvaging some other parts. You can download speccy.

Also what's your case and PSU?

So heres my current build which is a best on its own! I started out with a budget of around $600 about a month ago and built the basic i7 System with a 500w EVGA Power supply which when out within two weeks so I bought a Seasonic 760w 80+ Platnium which is likely never going to fail on me and will last me atleast 8 Years. Over the past few weeks after building it, Ive became addicted to upgrade it when I have extra Cash. I will provide you the basics of what I started out with and you can upgrade over time. I also bought everything through Microcenter with Warrenties so I could return it anytime within two years and get my money back which made upgrading very easy. So if you have a Microcenter near you, Go there as they will price match with anyone and the staff are absolutely awesome! Now to talk about what I picked out, I started with the i7 6700k Which will likely handle anything flawlessly for the next 3-5 years. I also added a Corsair h100i V2 watercooler but its not on PC Parts picker but is defo worth it. You will never need to worry about it getting hot. My 6700 is OC To 4.6 GHz and stays comfortable under 55C while at 100% Load. If you think a water cooler is to much, You could go with the $25 Option and but the Hyper 212 Evo but it will be horrible with overclocking. With you the best of luck!

Christmas is still 3 weeks away. By then, prices will definitely have changed and new components will either have released, or be pretty close to release. So anything we suggest now will be useless really. Also, you already have a PC but need a new one? Pointless. Just upgrade whatever components in your system are not working as well as you'd like. i5 and GTX 970 are still perfectly fine.
