Im going to be completely honest with you. Do not change your decision based on our opinions as each one of ours are different and shouldnt change your mindset. For example in my opinion joining the military would be a great way to start your life outside of high school and it pays somewhat good money depending on your mos. In the the end thought its your choice to join or not.

We all get paid the same believe it or not. A sergeant that's a cook gets paid the same as a sergeant in the infantry.

I'm in the Army NG. It won't be a cure-all for your life though, once you get home from training you'll still want to find a career and stuff to do. Although it will be easier, being in the military.

You have to want it. Don't do it just 'cause. You have to really want it.

If the only reason the military is an option is because you don't have another career choice in mind, I would say no.

The reason I say no is because the (US) military pays horribly so you might put in your 4 years or even 20 years and realize you have nothing for retirement. They pay worse than min wage.

There are SOOO many opportunities out there, I'm sure you keep hearing that the job market is perfect for employers and crap for employees and in some cases that's true. For minimum wage, no skill required jobs, that is absolutely true because they have their pick of whoever they want. In skilled trade, that couldn't be further from the truth, in fact right now is a great time to be getting a job if you want to get into a skilled labor position. I'm a finish carpenter, I'm 18 years old fresh out of highschool as of January. I have no skill, no nothing. They are paying for my education, along with paying me 24.55/hr + benefits.

You don't have to be a carpenter, I know in Washington state there is a HUGE demand for truck drivers, so much so that some companies are offering to pay for you to get your CDL so you can work for them.

Remember though, you don't have to have a career choice right out of highschool. Nothing is going to happen to you if you still haven't decided what you want to do come 5 years from now.

Idk why Americans glorify joining the Military so much. In other countries it's just another normal job. Just do whatever career you wanna do

First of all, don't let anyone talk you into doing something you don't want to. Just because you area little behind on some classes doesn't mean you should go into the military to be an active member of society. Even if you end up being a fast food worker, it is better than nothing. Although, it is not an idea job you are still being productive. Everyone has their place in society and that is why society works. Start trying in school, but don't devote anything (yet) to the army if you are truly unsure. Just go day by day, just because you are unsure on a career path doesn't mean you wont find any interests in this senior year. If this is something you want to do though, then by all means, do it. It isn't for everyone. This isn't something you do because of the pay (I am sure you are aware of that) or because you have nothing else to do. Regardless, I hope you find your spot in life and live happily. It is your life to live.

Personally I think that if you are asking others whether YOU should join the military or not then I would suggest against it as it seems that you are obviously not 100% committed to doing so,
My advice? Try find and speak to people who work in specific roles for the forces and get them to tell you what it's really like without the bs then that way you can weigh up whether it's still something you want to do.

I honestly think it's a great opportunity to be great in life. It's gonna be hard but you get so many benefits from joining.
