Synopsis
The Warriors is a beat 'em up video game published by Rockstar Games. It was released on October 17, 2005 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, and February 12, 2007 for PlayStation Portable. The Warriors is based on the 1979 movie of the same name (which in turn, is based on the 1965 novel of the same name), and features large scale brawling in 3D environments interspersed with other activities such as chase sequences.[2] The console versions of the game were developed at Rockstar Toronto, while the PSP port was developed by Rockstar Leeds. The game was released on the PlayStation 3 on May 28, 2013 in the U.S. and May 29, 2013 in Europe via the PlayStation Network.[3]

The game takes place in a gritty 1970s New York City. The story follows a street gang, the Warriors had been accused of a murder they didn't commit, and must return to their home turf in one night, although the game begins three months prior to the film events. In addition to the film itself, a beat'em up scroller game The Warriors: Street Brawl, created by the CXTM was released on the Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox Live Arcade in Summer 2009. A comic book, called The Warriors: Jailbreak, which is adapted from the film, but takes place after the events of the film itself, was released in 2009. Due to the game containing strong violence, language, sexual theme, etc., the game was released with a "Mature" rating.

The game was influenced by Rockstar Games introducing a substantial beat 'em up element to the gameplay. The actors from the film itself reprised their roles to perform the voices of their original characters.[4] Upon its release, The Warriors received positive critical response.

Story 9/10
The Warriors are a gang that was founded in 1978 by Vermin and Cleon. They built the reputation in the gang world as one of the toughest gangs in New York City from the ground up. When brought upon adversity, the Warriors can fight through anything.
We start off by fighting throughout New York City until the Warriors get an invite by the Riffs themselves, to a gang convention give or take. The gang world leader, Cyrus, is proposing that all gangs should combine and eventually take over New York City, mainly due to crooked police officers. Most gangs are subject to the proposal but one gang in particular doesn't like it at all. The leader of the Rogues, Luther, decides from the getgo he was going to shoot and kill Cyrus to prevent this from happening,he goes through with it and in the frenzy blames the Warriors for the murder. The Warriors are on the run from all gangs in NYC, and prepare for a hellish night of fighting and evading. Throughout the night they start with 9 members and slowly one by one are picked off until there are only 5 remaining. Their main goal of the night was to make it back to Coney Island, their home turf. Once they've made it back they're met by the Rogues who have the intent of wiping them out and getting away with the murder scotch free. Right before Luther shoots Swan, Swan throws a switchblade at Luthers gun holding hand and as soon as that happen the Riffs are there to hear Luther admit to the crime and apologize to the Warriors.

Gameplay 8/10
The game starts off with you as a new blood, Rembrandt, who has to prove his worth to join the game. Throughout the early stages of the game you and the rest of the Warriors complete missions, there are 18, to progress towards the main event, which is the meeting and the events that follow. The first 14 or so missions mainly consist of random acts of robbery, vandalism or straight up beating up enemy gangs that come in your way. Before each mission you are given a list of objectives to complete before the mission can be completed. Each fight is in the brawl mode of fighting meaning that all fights are gang vs gang. You will be outnumbered a majority of the time, especially during the last 4 or 5 missions.
For a majority of the game Coney Island is the hub for the Warriors, meaning that this is their safe house. You can train your gang members, socialize with other members, or walk through Coney Island and discover Bonus/Side missions.
In addition, you can choose to rob stores which will give you money, enter buildings, pick door locks, etc. Each of these will allow you to collect money and doing so will let you purchase clothing, jewelry, or upgrades for a member of the gang that you choose to edit. If in pursuit or just for fun you can hide in shadowed areas. This is usually used to creep up on people or gangs to mug them, which will also increase profits.

Graphics 4/10
The graphics for this game disappointed me. I'm gonna start off with the sound. The sound the characters make when walking sounds like someones beating a spoon on a metal pot... The punches and kick sounds are actually alright but really don't sound realistic whatsoever. The special FX could definitely use a lot of improvement. Next, the actualy graphics itself. This could use a ton of improvement. Rockstar really disappointed me with the development of this, the characters look nothing like real people at all, not even during cutscenes. The fighting although isn't that bad, that part could pass. Buildings and terrain look awfully fake as well, the only thing that looks real is something that will be used for the game. If there was an remake for this game I would strongly suggest Rockstar fix the graphics first, everything else is alright.

Controls 10/10
I had no problem with the controls whatsoever. When you first start the game they give you a tutorial on how to move around before you can do anything at all. Then before you can start actually playing you have to fight a group of drunk guys and during that fight you are taught all the basic attacks, punches, kicks, slams, etc. I noticed that unlike any other fighter game I've played this one doesn't have any combos at all, which I found pretty odd.

My Rating: 7/10
