Starbound

Developed by: Chucklefish Games
Published by:Chucklefish Games
Release Date: December 3rd (beta released)
Platforms: Windows, OS X, Linux. (Playstation 3, vita, and PS4 TBA)
Genre: Platformer, Adventure, Sandbox, RPG

Synopsis

Starbound begins with the player inside a spacecraft fleeing their homeworld, each race with their own unique reasons for leaving. With nothing to guide it, the shuttle shoots into space without direction, becoming hopelessly lost in a sea of stars. As luck would have it, the space shuttle touches down on a habitable planet and an adventure begins that takes the player hurtling across the universe. Starbound contains both quests and story driven missions, buried inside its vast sandbox universe. The space shuttle acts as the player's vehicle while exploring the galaxy, containing a teleport pad the player can use to teleport down to planets the shuttle is visiting.

Gameplay

Starbound starts you off in your ship after your planet has been destroyed. Your ship just ran out of fuel and you need to travel the planets in order to refuel your ship and find a new planet to live on. There is no limit to the amount of planets you can travel. Each solar system has different coordinates, which makes no two planets the same, allowing the replay value to continue on and never lose the games addicting feel. The only goal as of the games beta is to continue on and explore new planets and find new dungeons, new materials, and find legendary items in rare chests and get special upgrades that give your character special ability.

In multiplayer, you take what you have in your single player world and you can keep it in the multiplayer world. This means you do not have to restart on every server you join, but can make a total of 4 characters if you wish to start as a new race or just want to play from the beginning.

Graphics

The graphics are extremely similar to those of terraria, and gives a classic art style to the game that is very basic, but looks very good. Chucklefish really kept it simple, while still showing that you don't need flash to make a game look good.

Controls

Like most PC games, you move your character with WASD. It is a 2d scrolling game so there isn't much movement to be done besides left and right. You fight monsters, and mine by left or right clicking, and you interact with objects by pressing E. This allows for you to do all the basic movements quick and you can get used to it very quickly.

Grand Theft Auto V. (IF UNINTERESTED IN MY REVIEW OF STORY MODE, SKIP TO THE BOTTOM FOR MY MULTIPLAYER REVIEW) Grand Theft Auto V,in short, is the story of three very different criminals Franklin, the gangster from the hood trying to rise up and do real jobs, Micheal, the ex-bank robber with a dysfunctional family, and Trevor, the crazy psychopath who lives in the desert. The games story focuses on the 3 of them and the jobs they do together, mainly for a group of corrupt government officials. One of the biggest components to the game in comparison to the others are the new heist missions, missions that are meticulously planned out and prepared for, all for a large amount of money. Some of the heists include a jewelry store, a bank, a government building and a security truck.

All in all, I really like the story mode. More than I like the lackluster online multiplayer. The graphics are beautiful, the story is immersive, and the characters are interesting. The game includes 69 main story missions and 40 or so (give or take) "strangers and freaks" missions, which are missions that you do for random citizens of Los Santos. The character customization is okay, there's not nearly as much options for clothing for the characters as there is in Saints Row IV, but it's still alright. The vehicle customization is pretty good though, not only can you upgrade your cars engines to make them faster, but there's also quite a good amount of body mods that you can give them, however, it's still not quite as good as Saints Row IV's vehicle customization. I know it sounds like I'm favoriting Saints Row IV but I'm really not, I like GTA: V a LOT more, but in regards to little cosmetic things like vehicle customization and character clothing, Saints Row IV is better at those things by far. Now, I'm only about 60% through GTA: V's story, (Enough to do a review) but I've already logged probable 20 hours into the actual story mode, most of that being free roaming or creating chaos for the pedestrians of Los Santos. My main complaints are mainly for the POLICE in this game. They're SOOOOOOO sensitive, I mean, if you stand next to somebody on the side of the street for too long the police will show up and shoot at you, that's not an exaggeration, if I stand there on the sidewalk next to a random pedestrian for like 45 seconds they call the cops and then show up and shoot me, plus, they're way too persistent, sending guys out at every corner to search for you, even if all you did was stand next to that person, when you finally evade them, they send out like a group of 20 people to hunt you down, find you and start the chase again. It's pretty annoying. Also minor things like some blurry or fuzzy textures in the graphics, or some texture pop-in, but that's to be expected with a game that's so huge. Now on to the multiplayer.

MULTIPLAYER: The multiplayer introduced for Grand Theft Auto V, was the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto: Online. In all seriousness, I hate this multiplayer. It's SOOOOOO boring. There's hardly anything interesting about it, and if you bought the game anytime after the middle of November you're almost screwed when it comes to making money or ranking up, because all the people who bought it at release and have been playing since Online was active, and who are all rank 75+ will troll, kill, and destroy everything you work for, because that's how most people who play GTA are. I'm trying to make some money on my first character, and a guy with a tank comes by and blows up my personal vehicle, I pay the insurance, pick up my new one, and he drives by the insurance lot and blows it up again, and I pay the insurance again, but don't go pick it up because I know he'll kill me, so then, I take cover in a gun store while he shoots through the door with the tank and I hide in the conjoined shooting range, which for some reason makes the store owner hate me, and then shoot me to death. So I waited for him to leave for five seconds, I grab my vehicle, and retreat to the desert. I had more fun while I was alone robbing the stores WAY out in the desert, then I did whenever I was playing around other people, because the other people obviously have no clue how to make friends or have social problems or something. Because if they see you on the sidewalk they will personally stop their car to shoot you for no reason and then drive away. In short I love the Story mode, and it's all I will play with this game. I am now uninterested in the Online in every way.

If you read the whole thing, thanks. I appreciate that you were interested in my opinions on a game, I guess.

The Story
The story behind Ascend is a difficult one but don't mind that and try to pay attention. In the beginning of starting the game a movie plays it gives some sort of background into what the stories about. And in short term, You play as a Giant, Your called a Chaos. As a Chaos you conquer towns and villages and along the way you'll find dungeons, These dungeons contain a variety of enemies and chests, In these chests you can get different tier items (If you want to see what tiers there is check it out below) And once you finish the game you'll see a golden chest at the Hand Of Kul, And at the beginning of the day everyday you can get a free golden tier weapon or armor.

Obtainable Items
As I Said earlier, There are different chests and each chest has a color if you see a teal colored chest you know inside that there will be a rune, Runes are typically perks that you use on you upgraded weapons and armor. Runes can consist of, Extra speed, Extra damage etc. For a list of weapon and armor tiers read below.

Grey: Standard Weapons & Armor
Green: Moderate Weapons & Armor
Blue: Solid Weapons & Armor
Purple: Great Weapons & Armor
Gold: Superior God Weapons & Armor

Classes
Light- When you're a Light character your attacks are alot quicker but your damage output by both magic and melee are noticeably reduced.
Void- When you're a Void you specialize in magic, All your magic attacks have increased recharge and magic damage output but your melee and speed are noticeably reduced.
Dark-
Last but not least the war god, Dark, My favorite of them all. With Dark you have greatly increased damage and health you are a beast, When you're a Dark you have some of the best magic attacks and stats.

Overall
Overall I'd give this game a 9.5/10 This is the best freebie arcade game you find on the market today, If your a fan of God Of War and Ninja Gaiden, You'll love this. It has the perfect amount of blood, gore and fighting. Download it and play. It's $0 Just try it.

The Amazing Spiderman Review

Release Date: June 26, 2012
Developer: Beenox Studios
Publisher: Activison
Platforms: Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, Android, iOS, Microsoft Windows, Wii U, BlackBerry 10, PlayStation Vita, Windows Phone 8, Mobile
Genre: Action-Adventure

Sypnosis:
The Amazing Spider-Man is an action-adventure video game, which is a tie-in to the film of the same name featuring the Marvel Comics superhero, Spider-Man. It was developed by Beenox, developer of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man: Edge of Time,[7] and published by Activision. It was released June 26, 2012[8][9][10] in North America and June 29, 2012 in Europe,[3] on Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Android, iOS, and Microsoft Windows.[4][11] On October 13, 2012, it was confirmed that it will be coming to Wii U,[12] in Spring 2013,[6] this version was released March 5, 2013 in North America and March 8, 2013 in Europe as The Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition in both regions. A PlayStation Vita Version was also confirmed to be in development. The game was directed by Gerard Lehiany and written by Seamus Kevin Fahey, of Battlestar Galactica fame,[1] Benjamin Schirtz and Grard Lehiany. The game serves as an epilogue to The Amazing Spider-Man film.[10]

Gameplay:

The Amazing Spider-Man's gameplay is very enjoyable. From crawling in in the sewers to fighting robots in Manhattan, everything is very smooth. The game's combat, while resembling Arkham Asylum's combat, is brutal and interesting to watch as Spidey does a double kick flip on his foe.

Web slinging is better than ever. While swinging in the city, the camera zooms in, allowing very immersive web swinging. One interesting feature is is Web Rush, a dead eye like mode that allows Spiderman to reach a certain area using his powers to the full extent. The mode is controlled in first person, through the eyes of his mask.

Some of the downsides focus on combat. While you can upgrade your attacks for more damage, you can't purchase any new moves, which is a shame.

Score: 8/10

Controls:
Controls haven't varied very much from other titles with the same name. They are easy to understand, with a decent tutorial at the very start of the game. Chances are, if you have played any other Spiderman games, you'll get the controls quick.

Score: 6/10

Graphics:

The graphics in this game are 'ehhhh'. Spidey himself looks great, but all the enemies are generic and similar. While the graphics do pass for a 2012 title, there are many signs that laziness was a factor. Many cloned civilians walk the streets, along with similar looking buildings. Maybe this would've worked in 2008, but certainly not in 2012. Helicopters look smudged, with little to not detail.

Score: 5/10

Plot:
The Amazing Spider-man's plot is... Generic. Basically, many contagious cross species escape from Oscorp Tower, fleeing into New York and infecting citizens. Dr. Smythe, a scientist at Oscorp, sends killer robots loose in order to eliminate the cross-species, Spiderman. Throughout the game, you'll be battling these robots, along with different cross species. Spiderman then has to break Dr. Conners out of prison to make an antidote, the first version cripples Smythe, while the second is used to cure the whole city. The final battle includes fighting Smythe with the Lizard, afterwards giving the Lizard the antidote.

Now to be honest, I was disappointed. Levels were tied together, lasting almost an hour each. Each with both stealth combat and normal combat.

Score: 2/10

Gameplay: 8/10
Graphics: 5/10
Plot: 2/10
Controls: 6/10

Final Score: 7/10

The Amazing Spiderman isn't a fully thought out game, like Web of Shadows. If they're going to be making another, they seriously need to re think the writing department.

In the end, this is a game for Spidy fans, not really average gamers.

I would add more detail and depth to both of your reviews, and be sure to follow Dimebag's basis tutorial found here as a general guideline towards what your reviews should look like:
Forums/t=3168769/reviews-tutorial...ation.html

Or check some of the published reviews to see just about how much information per section you would need. This can serve as a good guideline:
Forums/t=5919611/battlefield-4-ga...eview.html

Per section I'd recommend a general explanation (Non-critiquing) and then go deeper into the criticism after that. This way they get better understanding of whether they would want to buy the game or not. If you need any assistance with writing reviews and what not, send me a PM.

People keep voting reviews as non-useful. Most of these reviews are very well made and took a lot of effort, just because you don't like the game you don't have to make their review look bad
