Synopsis (PlayRustWiki)

Rust is an open world MMO zombie survival game designed by Facepunch Studios. It takes inspiration from games like DayZ, Minecraft, and STALKER. To survive in Rust you may choose to work together with friends and strangers, scavenging for supplies and building giant bases, or go at it alone, killing other players for loot. Rust aims at being a game that gives players the freedom to play the way that they want, and that doesn't involve a hero and bandit system. With Rust, you will have to use your instinct, not a humanity number, to figure out if you can trust people.

Gameplay

Once you spawn into the Rust island, you start with a few supplies to give you a fighting chance to live in this bandit infested world. You must gather and craft all other items you will need to use. You will find most of the supplies you need throughout the wildlife around the island. You will find blueprints on how to craft other items so that you will become better equip to fight off bandits that are trying to take your things. There are many more aspects than just surviving against bandits. You can die from radiation, wildlife, starving, drowning, and even hypothermia. You are able to build things as well making it possible to build up a defense base that you can your friends can protect yourselves and each other at. Doing whatever it takes to survive the harsh reality of the Rust island.

Graphics

The graphics in this game are actually quite well, as long as you're able to play in the highest setting. They still have a bit of cartoonish look to them but some of the textures look really well. You can tell they put a lot of time into developing the terrain as it looks more realistic than anything else in the game. From the trees to the water, you can see the actual detail. The water texture isn't just one solid blue, it has depth. There is big individual strands of grass sticking out of the ground instead of a huge green flat surface. It is the actual character itself is what looks the most like a cartoon. They did a fine job developing the weapons along with the prefabricated cities and buildings. They didn't just cheap out. They went all out.

The graphics far exceeded my expectations. I thought it was just going to be another dull cartoon like game, but instead the terrain was beautiful and the buildings looked amazing.

Controls

The controls in this game are incredible. They are easy enough that a 6 year old that knows how to play Minecraft could pick it up in no time. Just like WarZ and 7D2D, the controls are the exact same, making it easier to play and less worry on just learning how to control your survivor. You craft and build things the same way you would originally in Minecraft. You only have to use the typical WASD keys for movement and the left click on your mouse to use the item you have equipped. So if you have an Axe, in order to chop down a tree, all you have to do is press the left click. There is even the simple "T" for text chat a "V" for voice chat.

I think the simplicity of the controls makes the game that more enjoyable. Instead of learning just how to move, you're able to try and learn the mechanics and ways of the game.

I honestly do think this is a good game that is worth getting. It is probably the best $20 steam game you can buy right now. Rust is a really fun survival PVP game that you can spend hours on end playing.
