Synopsis
The clash of Beauty vs. Beast continues in the next installment of the Test drive series. Test Drive 5 pushes driving to new limits by adding high resolution graphics, branching roads, shortcuts, and photorealistic graphics featuring Multi-Dynamic Environment Mapping. Three new difficulty levels, customizable vehicles, real-world tracks, multiplayer gameplay, cop chases, realistic weather effects, breakable roadside objects, and the addition of an arcade and simulation mode provide a deep racing game experience.

Gameplay
The gameplay in Test Drive 5 is well designed and fluent. The player will be able to participate in championship races which will unlock them new tracks to race on, new championship races to partake in, and unlock new vehicles to use in the upcoming championship races to follow or in single race. The player will be able to race in 18 different locations and as well as drive over 25+ different vehicles in the game. If the player chooses single race, the player is able o modify their vehicle by changing the speed, acceleration, handling, and braking, which by increasing one of the stats, the other decreases. Some tracks offer separate routes for racers to take, most of the time, one path will give the racer an edge by being shorter than the other path. The player will also be able to participate in drag races and cop chases. In drag race, the player will put up against a vehicle of the same type but will be the AI version of their car. In cop chase, the player will have to chase down all illegal racers and will have a meter hovering over the top of their car. Once their meter is fully red and is depleted of green, their vehicle will have smoke starting to appear over their vehicle and will start decelerating to a complete stop or just hit a barrier. In championship races, there will be a total of 4 races in which each player is awarded with points depending in what place they come in, the higher the position, the more points earned and vice versa.

Graphics
The graphics in Test Drive was different in a way than its other predecessors in the Test Drive series. The buildings had more textures and details implemented in them than before. The vehicles look more accurate of the actual car itself but not fully precise. The details on the vehicles themselves such as the front and rear bumper are a little too inaccurate. Some of the vehicles look like they have an extended bumper or have sharp corners sticking out of them, trying to make them seem "buff" which completely throws out the realism of the vehicles in the game. A cool feature that is unique to Test drive 5 is that when the player is racing on a track with rainy weather, the rain actually appears on the player's screen, making it seem like the player is actually in the game getting hit by the rain. The light fixtures is a cool feature but really doesn't provide any significance to the game, seemingly just for looks since the light does't provide any source of light to make the player see at night.

Controls
The controls are o different from its other Test Drive racing series counterparts. If the player has played any Test Drive game beforehand, then they should get the use of the controls of the game and get comfortable with the fluency of the game. Players on the Playstation will have the ability to use either the directional-pad or the analog stick to steer their vehicle, as seeing that the analog stick is more sensitive to the steering of the vehicle than the directional-pad that players will find comfortable using depending on their preference. If your a new player to the Test drive series, just practice racing on the tracks to get comfortable with the controls and the map itself to get more experienced with the game.

Ratings
Gameplay: 8.6/10
Graphics: 8.2/10
Controls: 8.8/10
Overall: 9.1/10

Extra Information
When racing on any track, the police will always chasing of the actual player instead of the AI's which is really unfair when racing in championship races and could really alter the outcome of finishing the race.

The player's vehicle is somewhat softer compared to the AI's vehicles as they seem harder upon impact and rarely flip over compared to the actual player's vehicle.

All the AI's vehicles sound exactly the same, no matter what manufacturer they are, as well as the tires on them too appear to be exactly the same.
