Synopsis

Madden NFL 2004 covers nearly every facet of professional football, but what makes this year's entry in the series so special is the fact that it ties all its components together seamlessly.

Gameplay

The good things about it, the first of many great things about it is
that you get good plays to choose other than bad runs and throws that only make it 2 to 4 yards each time and it takes two quarters to make a touch down so that makes this games plays way better. Another great things of many great things about the game is you can create a team and make it so its unbeatable and make your own unique uniform and send that team online to kick so series but. The last great thing about it is that you can make your very own unique player and make how fat/skinny and how good he will be on the field and you can choose what specific team he will go like the raiders or the broncos you name it you can put him on that team. So after all that I have said Ive got to say this was a definite classic in the making also some advice the broncos are the best team to use for playing franchise trust me. The first thing wrong with the game is that the commentators in the game always say the same thing they should give them a wider vocabulary of things to say when someone gets a touch down or gets a huge tackle and fumbles .The second thing wrong with the game is the star quarterback always decides to retire and you always have pick a new one and waste all your money on getting him because if you get something below average(really cheap for money)you will always have to do run plays and if you do a throw play its a 1 in 100 chance it will work.

Graphics and Sound

Naturally, today's sports sims have incredible graphics. The players walk, tackle, and run with a fluid motion that could almost be mistaken for a real game. When creating a new player, several new options have been added, including tattoos. The only problems with the player models are the face and skin. Even a 'dark' skinned character looks very light, and the faces still don't look quite as real as I think they should. Still, if you want great graphics, this is the game to get. The on-the-field sound is realistic, as usual, but to tell the truth, I had never even heard of any of the songs in the playlist. Also, I find several of them to be rather odd selections when compared to previous Madden games.

Controls

One of the best additions to the series is the use of the playmaker option. Instead of calling an audible, you can simply use the right analog stick to change the direction of a rusher or the running route of a wide receiver. This is useful if you see that a defender is showing blitz or zone or man to man coverage. The other great change is the owner mode. It is like franchise mode but with a more business-like presence. You get graphs and charts to plan out your moves. You will know that your fans like what is going on or hate the coaching moves you make. You control a player on the field., to make the pass, which are coordinated with a few buttons you can press on the controller. You can sprint, dodge, sack, all the standard football stuff, butthere are a few important moves you cant do. Ive never seen anyone just butting the hell out of someone with his shoulder, which is sorely missed.

Pick this game up and ESPN, its only around 80 bucks for the both of them. Youll get a lot of fun from the production values of this game, plus if youre depressed, and you need to know someone is worse off than youyou can always just listen to John Madden.

Grrreeat game. my only complaint about the game is the skin tones. how do black players end up looking like a white person who has been in a tanning parlor? with all the work that the ea team put into this game, you would think they would get the skin tones right...
