I actually ended up buying the ink'd 2s. They aren't that bad for me, since I will only use them at school.

Hey, I was starting to think about dropping $400 on a pair of Dr. Dre beats. I know how about the quality is bad and you can get headphones better for that price, but I really want that similar of a design. They are extremely comfortable! Also, this might help you, I listen to a lot of hip-hop and I want a really good bass sound for my headphones like a overly amazing bass. I have the Audio-Technica M50s but, they are not good enough for me.

Then you'll just end up having a pair of mediocre Skullcandies and junk Beats. It's not like the M50s are the end-all be-all of headphones in the price range, in fact I can't find a reason to recommend them anymore. If you want Beats Studio sound, pick up the $50 Sony XB500. If you want Something that blows them and the Pros out of the water, you have plenty of good options. You're pitting a relatively neutral headphone against a bassy one when you clearly want bass (which makes me wonder why you would go for the M50 in the first place), which is ridiculous. Spend less than half that and get the Audio Technica Pro 700 MkII. There's also the AKG K181, V-Moda LP and LP2, Ultrasone Pro 900 and Pro 750, and more. There is not a single reason you should get Beats.

The Ultrasone Signature Pro fits the bill here. Very high-end closed headphone that's efficient enough to be driven without any extra hardware. Still, if you want to get the most of them, pick up an amp and DAC. I'm not as knowledgeable as Ishcabible or Parall3l and I'd wait for what one of them has to say, but the O2 + ODAC seems like a very reasonable choice.

I also remember there's a place that stocks the Sig Pro for a much lower price... But I can't remember it. I'm waaaaaaaaaay out of the loop.

B&H is the one that sells cheap Ultrasones I think (Have to give them a call if I remember correctly)

There's also the TH900 by Fostex of course. At 25ohm and 100db/mw it should run fine even on iPods.

I was looking at the Audio Technica Pro 700 MkII at the time I was buying the M50s, but I could not afford them at that time. I just took a look at the Pro 900s and they looked very nice, are they really bassy? The only reason I had even considered the Beat Pros is because, the design quality and the overall look of them. I just wise I could get the quality and look of the beat pros, but get a quality of sound from a $400 pair of headphones.

V-Moda M100 should be something you'd want to check out. The PRO900 is one of the more bassy headphone out there. If you consider the M50 comfortable, the PRO900 or the V-moda should be fine for you.

and if you really want "looks", there's a few headphones I haven't heard that should work too. Such as the Reloop RHP-20. The Pioneer HDJ2000 is something I haven't heard but the general impression isn't that good, the lower end HDJ1000 and HDJ500 is pretty meh.

Thank you very much. If I do buy another pair of headphones the PRO900s will be my first choice. What is your opinion on the ear pads not being leather but a velvet material (I think).

Leather is my personal favourite when it comes to earpads. However the earpads for the Ultrasones are soft and doesn't kill my skull when I'm wearing glasses. Ultrasone also includes a second pair of the same pads in the carry case that you'll get.

One word of warning about the Ultrasones. The demo CD included with the Ultrasone headphones is not a good reference to test headphones with, since it is most likely recorded with binaural mics and gives the illusion of accurate positioning.

Yes and no. There is no official leather pads for the PRO900 but there have been mods with J$ leather pad. J$ is not exactly cheap though. Other leather pads of the same size could be used for modding too.
