Mainly Rap/hip-hop. I do listen to other genre's but rarely.
Over-ear.
Doesn't matter if open or closed.
Listened on my computer, or with an Fiio amp.

Ultrasone PRO900 if you can deal with treble. There's also the HD650 but probably not going to work with a FiiO. HE400 is a little out of the budget. Under the budget there's the PRO700MKII, V-moda M100, and some of the Beyers like the DT770.

yeah im looking to upgrade my current cans, had them for about a year and a half. I got m50's right now and i've been looking into the pro700MKII. You think it's worthy for the upgrade?

If you're looking for more bass, then I guess you can call the PRO700MKII an upgrade. No experience with them though so I won't comment on anything else. I've heard the PRO900, DT770 and HE400 though. I do feel that they're an improvement over the M50, with HE400 being the best for me, beating my PRO900.

Icy wrote Do any of you guys have an opinion on the new Beats Executives? I'd say they're the most stylish set of cans by Dre yet. I'm aware of your guys' opinions on Beats as a whole as I share many of the same. I was just wondering if the internals have improved at all with their new release. I'm assuming not but I guess I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Anyone heard them? Thoughts?

Looking for a reply that's not a rant about the whole beats line, lol. Thanks dudes.

They're not out yet so I'm not going to say they sound as bad as the Studios. Although considering the price of the Executives and its target audience, I'm going to assuming that it is not going to sound like the Beats Studios. It'll probably have a signature more suited to rock, classical and other genres the older generation tend to prefer. However being a Beats headphone it'll probably suck. There's also the Amperiors, DT1350, Momentum and M100 competing with it.

One other thing, can you recommend home cinema? I've got the Bose lifestyle 48 at the moment (paid 3k for it, stupid idiot **************************). Distortion galore, and no more bass than my logitech z5500 I have in my house in Spain. Anyway, they're 10 years old now, can your recommend something new? I've been having a look at Cerwin Vega and B&W. 5K budget. Bass is a big for me, but no more so than quality. I need at least a 12" sub. Don't mind if they're mixed speakers. I like elegant looking, but I like the red trim from the cerwin vega series. JBL any good?

Blu ray - yes
12" sub at least
5.1 or 7.1
Great sound quality

Thanks

I just updated the topic with a section about gaming headphones, you'll find the two mic options I recommend there!

You could get the Superlux HD 681 or HD 668B, which are $30 and $48 respectively on Amazon.

None of us can really have an opinion of them because they aren't really available yet. I mean, going by the Beats' track record, I can't imagine they'd be a very good value at all, especially compared to the very promising V-Moda M100.
