Synopsis

Monday Night Combat (abbreviated MNC) is a downloadable third-person shooter video game developed by Uber Entertainment. It was published by Microsoft Game Studios on the Xbox 360 and by Uber Entertainment and Valve Software for Microsoft Windows. It was released on August 11, 2010 on the Xbox 360 as part of Microsoft's 2010 Xbox Live Summer of Arcade and is distributed through Xbox Live Arcade. It was released on January 24, 2011 for Windows via Steam.

Gameplay

Monday Night Combat is a third person shooter downloadable game. It has character selection choices and team based objectives. The game is in the style of Defense of the Ancients. It is a futuristic replacement for Monday Night Football when they clones soldiers to battle each other for money. You team up with friends or play solo to battle against robots for money. Money unlocks upgrades, and that improves how you play the game and become for powerful.

Graphics

The graphics in MNC are decent, but there is not much detail incorporated into the maps and locations. The game sort of has a boxy feel to it. There are also a few frame rate drops ever once in a while. The overall graphics of Monday Night Combat are great. Although there is little detail in the characters, buildings, items, and stadiums; the game still would get a nice 8.5/10 for the graphics.

Graphics:
This game has animated graphics which are not to bad to say that the game does not cost anything. It has the players avatar running the course and the graphics are made to suit the player and this will give anybody reading this an overall view of the graphics in the game. I think that they are good for an Indie Game.

This is the sequel to the original game Crackdown. It is a third person shooter with open world gameplay. The main character is an super powered agent that works for law enforcement. Another cool feature added is the ability to glide, gain access to helicopter landing pads, and even driving! You unlock more and more vehicles as you progess in the game. Some of the vehicles you unlock are Agency vehicles, Peacekeeper Cruisers, and a large ammount of civilian vehicles. Just like Crackdown the first, there is online co-operative play in the main carrer mode. The most important ability to gain is Strength. Just like the other rank ups and abilitys, Strength, which is increased by using hand-to-hand attacks, throwing objects, beating people with those objects, or using the moves you unlock as your Strength increases, such as the Charge or Ground Slam. Overall, the gameplay is outstanding and a lot of fun.

Multiplayer

There are a few playlists for the online multiplayer in Crackdown 2. Some of these game modes consist of Rocket tag, Vehicle tag, Capture the orb, Deathmatch, and Team deathmatch. There is co-op online as well. This allows you to party up with up to 4 friends and play online. During an online match, you can collect Online Orbs or Xbox Live Orbs which give you a bonus to your overall stats. To increase the multiplayer experience, there are NO online limitations. Child of Eden

Game Information

Published By: Ubisoft
Developed By: Q Entertainment
Genre: Rail shooter, Music game
Mode's: Single-player
Release Date: June 14, 2011

The Game Is Available On : Xbox360 and PlayStation 3

Synopsis

Child of Eden is a rhythm action game created by Tetsuya Mizuguchi, best known for Rez, developed by Q Entertainment and published by Ubisoft.[4] The game announcement opened Ubisoft's pre-E3 2010 press conference and was one of the first titles shown with support for Xbox 360's Kinect peripheral. The game serves as a prequel to Mizuguchi's earlier game Rez and sees players shoot at various targets which produce melodic sounds upon destruction. It was developed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and is compatible with Microsoft's Kinect, PlayStation Move[5] and standard controllers for both consoles.

Gameplay

This game is basically like Guitar Hero and Rockband. Your objective is to shoot various objects out of the air as they appear on the screen. Hitting the objects gives you points and musical effects creating music. Players can use a lock-on function or a vulcan cannon to spray a constant line of bullets. This game is also compatible with the kinect. The player can aim using their hands and clap to change weapons. Players can also add more controllers for additional fun. During the game, they can adjust the music to the actions and movements of the players. The game offers 5 levels called Archives. Each level has a different visual theme. The levels are; Matrix, Evolution, Beauty, Passion, and Journey. Each level is re=playable, changing each time depending on the players performance. Overall, the game is fun and quite addicting.

Graphics

Child of Eden offers outstanding, beautiful visuals. The soundtracks and audio effects are HD top of the notch quality. On all of the levels/archives have great abstract art. This feature will distract you, yet ammuse you. I am not so sure about playing in standard quality, but with an HDTV, the graphics will blow you away. The standard graphics are flat out stunning, but there are also fun skins to transorm the game into a retro and black and white look. Overall, they are intense and astonishing, along with the sound quality as well.

Archives/Levels

The colors burst out of your screen, grabbing your attention. They all have an upbeat techno feeling to them that all go along to the music you can play. Here are some pictures of those levels/archives:

Portal 2 is the sequel to the enormously successful and critically acclaimed first title which originally came packaged in with the Orange Box from Valve, along with Half Life 2, its episodes and Team Fortress 2.

No one really knew what to expect, but not too long after, the industry found itself blown away by something very special. No pressure then to produce an amazing sequel, right? Valve want to make it so.

Hit the jump to find out if the Valve couldnt handle the pressure.

The first Portal was incredibly successful for a reason, and by successful I dont just mean that it sold well or was popular with critics, but it was deeply loved by gamers. Thats because Portal was something different, something a little special. What made Portal so special was that just to begin with, Valve had given us an incredible and mind-bending way to solve puzzles from a first person perspective.

Then what people didnt expect, was that Valve managed to wrap this puzzle game into an intriguing story with hilarious-yet-creepy writing and characters and then deliver us something that we had never quite experienced before with an ending that could have gone anywhere. There was definitely something subtly magical in the ingredients thanks to the guys behind it.

So where to the then, Valve?

Portal 2 kicks off quite some time after the first game and the entire Aperture Science facility has become rusty and overrun with plants thanks to its lack of maintenance (I wonder whose fault that is).

After waking from a long, unintentional slumber (more like stasus) you are assisted by a small bot to make your way to safety and before you know it, you are about as far from it as you could get, but I wont say why.

The brilliant puzzle solving is back and better than ever as you will now also be using it not only to go through tests, but to get around as well as you try and get a grip on your new derelict surroundings.

Thats not to say that proper Aperture Science testing does not take place, and now with added elements like liquid goo-like compounds with properties like insane elasticity for bouncing or the incredible lubrication for catching crazy speeds over short distances, you now have even more to pick your brain over. The additions with puzzle elements dont stop there, but the change from the first games puzzle to the seconds are enough for anyone to enjoy more of what they love, without having to endure just more of the same.

I personally found the puzzles to be easier than the first game, but Im not sure if its because they are, because I have merely been trained well by the first game to look in the right places or if I was just wearing my smart-boy-underpants. Regardless, the puzzles are still great fun to do and there are still some that will have you stumped for a while as you delve deeper into Valves carefully crafted puzzle adventure.

The campaign really takes you on a very interesting journey, but one which I dare not spoil in a review. It will run you around 6 hours depending on how well you handle the puzzles and (it also includes Valves usual commentary mode as well for those wanting a second go) is a fantastic journey thanks to the brilliant writing, complex well, characters in the game and a lot more exploration and discovery of where you are and what its purpose is.

The small A.I bot that assists you, named Wheatley, is voiced by the UKs Stephen Merchant, the actor/writer most known for his work as the writer of the incredibly popular series The Office. Much of the games script is directly influenced by his very distinct brand of humour and you will interact with his character very often, and while the voice work is done beautifully and the writing is genius it is a bit of a marmite sort of comedic tone and script that you will either thoroughly enjoy, or get a little annoyed with over time then again, that might well be just what the story needed, so take it at that.

Its no secret, thanks to the trailers, that GLaDOS makes a return and in that regard you should know exactly what to expect in terms of writing, voice and humour. Add the elements of GLaDOS and Wheatley together, along with a magnificent other characters voice work that you will hear (I wont say for spoilers sake) and you will find yourself amused at almost all times.

Behind the scenes of Portal 2, amazingly still sits the good ol Valve Source engine, banging and clanging away at its old age. Surprisingly, the game actually still looks very good and a lot of that is also thanks to fantastic art and graphic design that works together with the engines best features to keep the new environments looking great and running at a consistent, smooth pace.

One of the most exciting new features of Portal 2 is of course, the ability to play a separate co-operative multiplayer campaign featuring two little test bots named Atlas and P-body.
The co-op can be played either online or split-screen and will run you between 4-5 hours (again, depending on your pace) and brings with it a small campaign that, while not as in-depth as the main campaign of course, has its many enjoyable and humourous moments as GLaDOS runs you through test, making ridiculous and hilarious remarks (usually about the odd behaviour of humans) and keeps trying to make you feel like you should be trying to better your partner.

The completely new special test rooms, now designed for two players, really work like a charm and their is much joy to be had working together with a friend to figure out puzzles and do what is necessary to help each other progress and get to the end of the test chambers. Nifty little tools have been added, such as the ability to ping surfaces to indicate something to your partner (such as where a portal should go) as well as the ability to hold down a button and see from their point of view.

The multiplayer experience really adds a fantastic layer of fun onto the Portal 2 and is one that we will not be able to live without from now on, not to mention a huge amount of potential for DLC.

Conclusion:

Portal 2 manages to live up to the hype and be everything we loved about the first Portal, but with more. More tests, more toys and especially more of the great campaigns story and humour.

Valve has done a bang-up job thats worth your money, but even more so if you are able to take advantage of the new co-op mode.

Scoring:

Gameplay: 9.0

Still a magnificent puzzle system, now with even more ways to enjoy the unique levels and testing chambers.

Design & Presentation: 8.5

Good looking game despite the old engine, with incredibly smart level design and a polished finish to add onto the great script and marvelous voice acting.

Value: 8.0

While great as a game, its still a little short-lived for those with a budget for only one game or looking for something to get stuck into for a while.

Overall: 9.0

Synopsis

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne is a third-person shooter video game developed by Remedy Entertainment for Microsoft Windows and Rockstar Vienna for the Xbox & PlayStation 2 and published by Rockstar Games. The game is a direct sequel to Max Payne and is followed by Max Payne 3. It was released by Rockstar Games for Microsoft Windows on October 15, 2003, for Xbox on November 25, 2003, and for the PlayStation 2 on December 2, 2003.

Gameplay

Max Payne 2 is a third person shooter. You play as the main character, Max Payne for most levels. In some levels/missions you play as Mona Sax. You start off the game with a 9mm pistol, but as you progress through the game you can get more weapons such as pistols, sub machine guns, assault rifles, shotguns, long-range rifles, and even hand thrown weapons. The missions can be found in Max's internal monologue. There are various difficulties to play on, so this way you can make the game easier and more difficult. When completing the game on say easy you unlock the other difficulties. There are 2 special game modes called New York Minute and Dead Man Walking. New York Minute, is a game mode where the player is given a score and time for completing a mission. The Dead Man Walking, you, Max are in 1 of 5 scenarios, some including the test to see how long you can survive by fighting off respawning enemies and more. Overall, the gameplay is really good and gives the game a much greater feeling than the original.

Graphics

Max Payne 2 has Havok 2.0 physics engine which make its debut with half-life 2. Instead of making bodies and such just fall, they go flying with more effect. The enemies will go brutally down staircases and give a much more realistic feel to the game. When you hit an enemy right, there is a slow motion camera so you can rotate freely around him to see the flying back effect. You can completely destruct areas and sometimes you need to blow stuff up just to proceed. The makers have added much more explosives to the game, so you can use it to you're advantage to kill enemies. If you go on Google or Bing, you can see pictures of how good the game quality was in general. It is quite surprising to me honestly; to go back and look at game that I played so long ago. Overall, there are excellent textures and slow motion effects added. Just about everything graphics wise it just great!

Synopsis

Vanquish is a third-person shooter video game developed by Platinum Games and published by Sega for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 video game consoles. Having been in development since 2007, the game was released in October 2010.

Gameplay

The players play as the main character, Sam Gideon. He is a DARPA agent armed with the finest of armor suits. His suit has different abilities that enhance the gameplay experience offered in Vanquish. A really good feature added into the suit is Augmented Reality Mode. This slows down time to help you avoid dying. Sam's available weapons to use are a blade, grenades, EMP emitters, and more unlockable weapons as you progress through the game. The blade system is hold up to 3 weapons at once, so you have a higher chance of surviving through the missions. You can upgrade your weapons to increase their abilities such as ammo, accuracy and blade various. You also can earn weapons by reviving fallen allies. Overall, the gameplay offered in Vanquish is quite enjoyable.

Graphics

The graphics that are presented in Vanquish have a sort of "polish" to it. The story and character development are decent but not perfect. Sam's suit has astonishing quality and detail. Vanquish has detailed effect in the bullets, rockets, guns, armors, and characters. The level-design is just crazy and just go over the top! Vanquish's experience feels like a huge attention grabbing, sensory affecting, and just outstanding. The audio of gunfire, explosions, and the fast-paced techno makes the game more interesting. Overall, the graphics are amazing and make this game stand out.
