Hello everyone...
So I'm a photographer and video editor who does very little gaming but may start streaming games with my son. I'm also setting up for a podcast (video and audio) and live streams as well in gaming and tutorial type stuff related to website, seo, photo, etc).

Most common uses are Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, OBS and normal business and web stuff.

I know I need to upgrade and have been researching but need experienced opinions on what I'm doing with this amount of money. I know a little about computers and built my current rig a while back before the mining craze and price increases. I like to build better than I need so it might last me a few years before being completely obsolete.

Anyways... Any advice, directions, corrections, would be appreciated... What's not necessary? What can be downgraded without performance hits - or what should be upgraded to increase performance? At this price point should I be looking more at the x299 systems? Or will the new i9 balance price vs workhorse performance?

I prefer Intel and I do like Asus and - no real reason, just brand preference based on my history. Wanting an air cooled quiet system that has no performance hiccups when working.
The two M.2 memory cards I plan to use for OS and programs and the second for cache for Adobe or as a stage for current projects.

Here's the computer I am looking into building...

CPU: Intel - Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor ($580 when in stock again)
CPU Cooler: Noctua - NH-D15S 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler ($79.90 @ Amazon)
Thermal Compound: Gelid Solutions - GC-Extreme 3.5 g Thermal Paste ($11.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus - ROG MAXIMUS XI CODE ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($349.99 @ B&H)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 64 GB (4 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($549.99 @ Amazon)
(2X) Storage: Samsung - 970 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($379.00 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11 GB FTW3 GAMING iCX Video Card ($1064 @ Amazon)
Case: be quiet! - Dark Base Pro 900 Rev 2 (Black/Orange) ATX Full Tower Case ($269.90 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: SeaSonic - PRIME Ultra Titanium 1000 W 80+ Titanium Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($244.20 @ Amazon)
Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit ($149.99 @ Amazon)
(4X) Case Fan: be quiet! - SilentWings 3 PWM High-Speed 77.57 CFM 140mm Fan ($22.89 @ Amazon)
Monitor: Asus - MX27UC 27.0" 3840x2160 60 Hz Monitor ($539.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $4410.39

My current specs are...

i7- 4790k with stock cooler

32 corsair vengence gb ram

Crucial 512 ssd - for OS & programs

850 evo ssd as a stage for current projects

GTX 770
Basic Samsung 1080 monitor and an NEC side monitor
(I Plan to use the Samsung as a side monitor on the new cpu)

I'd recommend this, I just cut the price by about $1,000 with [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . You could also keep your current ssd's, ram, and possibly the motherboard. Maybe drop the new cpu, gpu, and psu into the new case. I would also recommend that you can use an aio or do a custom loop. Also, if you're going to begin streaming with your son you could possibly give him the old pc or sell the parts to pay for some of this. I myself would be interested in buying old parts but it will have to wait about a week.

*The i7 in the parts list is a filler unless you'd wanna buy that.

Thanks... Ya the old PC is going to my son with a few upgrades... it's an i2 and super old haha.

All of my current ssd and external hdd will go to the new system for photo and video storage.

In the system you put together... would there be an issue with the RAM and Noctua cooler height wise (I really don't want a water system.. I don't overclock much if at all so air cooling will work).

Also does that motherboard have M.2 slots? That'sgoing to be a huge speed increase for photos (wedding photographer)

For use in LR, PS, PR, AE will I notice a difference between the 9900k and the 9700k that would make waiting for an 9900k worth it?... It seems to be a large gap by the stats.

My YouTube channel is [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

We haven't started streaming yet but there's a vlog and a bunch of random videos on there haha

The cpu clearance of the ram I am unsure and the 9900k and 9700k but there is always yt which you can research on. Yes there are 2 m.2 slots and the specs for the processors are the same. I think only the i9 have a like .1mhz speed more than the i7.
