Hey,

I'd like to get some advice on what I should be focusing on Upgrading next. Here's my current build

CPU: Intel-I5 7600k
GPU: Evga GTX 1060 SSC
Cooler: NZXT Kraken x62
SSD: 240GB Samsung
HDD: 1TB 7200
Power supply: Corsair 550w

Extra information:
I play at 1080p 60hz,
I own 2 27inch 60hz monitors
My budget is around 500 Pounds to spend on upgrades can go higher if the upgrade is conserdibly worth it.

Thank you for taking the time.

If you're interested in gaming at a higher resolution (1440p?) in the future, I'd say a GTX 1070 + Upgraded monitor would run you around 500-600 GBP, other than that your 1060 is well suited for the 1080p 60hz gaming you're already doing.

Currently I'm not interest in upgrading to 1440p since I'm fine with 1080/60, I was thinking of maybe upgrading to a I7-7700k for the extra cores as games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey doesn't run well on Quad core CPUs.

I was also thinking about possibly getting the RTX 2070 for those features and the future proof performance.

7700k is also a quad core CPU, the 8700/9700 are 6/8 core Processors.

Looking back I realized you're probably talking about thread counts, personally I wouldn't drop the extra on the i7 7700k for the extra threads when you already have the i5 7600. However if the game really is straining the 4 Core, maybe look into a 8600k for a cheaper alternative upgrade.

(I don't game much of late so it's so strange hearing people looking to upgrade above their 4 core, seems like just yesterday people were talking about the G3258 and seeing how much bang for their buck they could get out of those 2 cores )

To be quite honest, I don't think you need to upgrade anything.

If your CPU is struggling with some higher end games, you could grab an i7-9700K which will max out your budget. ( [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] )

You're currently in the rough ground of 'good enough to handle all the games, not good enough to do ultra settings'.

Perhaps it would be worth looking into getting a 144Hz display, depending on what games you play?

I would advise against an RTX 2070 as it's about 15% better than a 1080, yet around 30% more expensive. The ray-tracing is a bit of a gimmick at the minute and more about 'early adopters' rather than people that want a sensible upgrade path.

Wouldn't 144hz be pointless since I cap my games at 60fps? And how long would you recommend before the 1060/7600k become outdated and would needed to be upgraded.

Wouldn't bother upgrading anything before the monitor. GPU upgrade won't be noticeable and a CPU upgrade wouldn't be a huge benefit either really.

If you're just playing games at 1080p 60Hz, the 7600k and GTX 1060 6GB are more than adequate. Maybe swap the 7600k out for a 7700k, but I'd only do that if you can find a well priced used 7700k, then sell the 7600k to get some cash back.

Would be useful to know what motherboard you have, your case, and your RAM, as well as what you're looking to achieve with this upgrade. Also would be useful to know specific models for the monitors.

Motherboard is MSI - Z270 KRAIT GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Case is NZXT - S340 Elite (White) ATX Mid Tower Case
RAM is Corsair - Vengeance LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory

Here's a link to my Monitors, [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I'd like to be able to achieve more performance in games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and be ready for releases next year.
