Original PC build topic:
Forums/t=7747322.html

ok, I have waited months and I still haven't had my CPU back. they have said its fine and it is now currently at the manufacturer for them to look at. I am considering just buying a new CPU and getting a graphics card too. I am thinking of getting a upgraded CPU like a Ryzen 5 but idk if that is a good idea. I would love it if I could get some help and I have like £150 atm. if I got a Ryzen 5 then obviously I wouldn't be able to get a GPU and thats fine as it would have integrated graphics I would assume. I have had my monitor and stuff sat there for about 4 months now and I am getting really annoyed and I give up with that CPU that I am waiting on. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks -Upside

I would demand for your CPU to come back. As far as I'm aware from the very little reading I've done with the bootkits [Quiet litterally just glided over it so I might be very wrong] but as long as you provide proof of purchase, they should send you a CPU to update your BIOS. Your CPU shouldn't need to go anywhere. I don't understand why you don't have it since your motherboard needs to be updated, not your CPU.

From there, I'd grab a 1050ti. Nice little card which should drop into your build just fine. Then you'll have a decent CPU and GPU to work from in the future.

I believe only Ryzen 5 2400G has integrated graphics in the R5 lineup

Basically the bootkit came and I sorted all of that but I had my PC running with no issues for the first few days and then it started to randomly crash. I took it to the local PC shop and they tested it with their own CPU and worked without issues. I sent my CPU back to where I got it from and now I have been waiting months. They tested it twice and said it was fine and I still wasn't happy so they sent it back to the manufacturer as it clearly doesn't work properly. When I get it back, I'm just gonna sell it as I won't need it. I am basically looking to get a Ryzen 5 or a Ryzen 3 with a graphics card I think but idk. I'll probably go for the Ryzen 5 with intergrated graphics.

Remember you will have to buy a whole new motherboard. as it's a completely different chip

I have just checked PC part picker and the only issue is "Some AMD B350 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Raven Ridge CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions." I already updated my BIOS so that wont be an issue.

That's not even remotely true.

OP - Not sure why you sent the CPU away? The R5 2400G isn't a huge upgrade over the R3 2200G, just an extra 4 threads really. You'll still need an updated BIOS for the R5 2400G, same as the R3 2200G.

I have a updated BIOS already and I sent the CPU as I was uninformed it for a few days just fine and then it started crashing so I took it to a local PC shop and long story short they said to send it back and get it checked so I did and now I'm still waiting for it to be sorted so I just bought another but the Ryzen 5 2400G this time as I thought it would be a little better.
