So I literally just picked up a Asus 1070 8gb for $280 brand new due to microcenter listing error on their website. Lowest I can find a 1070ti is $450. Is the 1070ti worth the $180 difference?

In your case I would say no.
For that price, the performance increase is simply not worth the money.
