Hey all, I'm looking to buy a new keyboard, one of these two. I know I could get the K95 and others but I have money credit on a site called very.co.uk and those are the two best on there as they don't do the K95. I've looked at loads of comparison videos but still can't decide.

Anyone use any of these or have one they prefer? Cheers.

Corsair > Razer
See it's the font that I hate on the keyboard and also the Razer has a spongy/soft wrist rest, so I'm so unsure just because of that. I might go for the K70 though seeing as you like it.

The K70 rapidfire comes with a rubber wrist rest that has two sides, both with a different texture feel, one side is more smoother, but hangs a little up more, while the other side has more of a rigid textured feel and hangs in a little lower. The rubber is magnetic so it won't come out too easily if you're moving your wrist around.

My main reason for a keyboard would be quality and of course the switches. I believe Razer uses their own version of Green switches, but Green switches as a whole, have always been loud. If you are concerned about loud noises, Greens won't work for you. Over the k70 side, the Speed Switches do have a noise to them, but not as loud as Greens. One poor choice design is the back plate on the Razer keyboard. So, it's a white back plate that your keys sit in, because of this, it makes the LEDs look brighter, which some people may want; however, the problem becomes that it is easier for your keyboard to get dirty. To clean that keyboard you have to remove all keycaps to clean in a basic pit, which would otherwise trap dirt, pet hair or anything else with the keycaps in. Corsair has the keycaps resting ontop of the switches without a back plate that is a basic pit. This doesn't make the LEDs look as bright because there is not a white surface for them to reflect off of, but it makes cleaning sooooooo much easier. Objects do not get stuck as easily since it's more open and honestly, you can clean your keyboard with just a few sprays of air in a can without having to take off your switches and then cleaning with air in a can.

If you like macro keys, the K70 Rapidfire sadly does not have any macro keys on the side of the keyboard, unlike the Blackwidow that has 5. Media controls are much easier to use on the K70. In the top right, there is a volume up and down wheel. This thing has saved my ears so many times. Start up a game that is loud? Just roll the wheel down instead of sitting through it to get to the audio options or alt+tabbing to lower the overall game volume via volume mixer.

The one thing I will give to Razer, is the software. The Corsair Utility Engine seems so finicky when I use it on my K95. Profiles don't seem to save unless I keep it running and if I manually change the profile on my keyboard, it seems to delete the profile on the software. I've had issues with profiles for the LEDs saving when manually using the button and even something as simple as macros on the G1-G6 keys (K95 keyboard,) if I changed my profile with the button on the keyboard. When I had my Razer Blackwidow Chroma v1, the software would save my profiles no problem and I could close out of the software and still keep my macros - unlike Corsair where you need to keep it open in the background to keep your macros on for that gaming session. Razer's software also seems a lot more UI friendly over Corsair, so that's an added plus on their software.

Overall, I prefer Corsair keyboards over Razer. I've had Razer products just shit out on me for no reason, while the only time a Corsair keyboard has died on me, was through my own fault. Cleaning is important to me and Razer did a poor design choice that just adds unnecessary time. Corsair keyboards have always felt like a better quality build than Razer has to me. Your best bet for judgment would be going to a local computer store or even a big chain computer store and see if they have a Razer Black Widow and a Corsair K70 Rapidfire for you to try out and get a feel for the switches and the overall quality feel.

Thank you very much for the detailed response! I went with the K70 yesterday after some more reviews and your response has made me very satisfied with my decision. I wasn't aware that it came with a soft wrist rest, so that's great.

Also I have macros on my current keyboard (K30) but I've not once used them, so that doesn't bother me in the slightest. (sorry for the tiny reply, way too tired rn)
