My desktop has been down for couple months now. It keepa telling me to reboot and select proper boot device. But my hdd is the first one in the bios. Not sure why its doing this. Anyone kow how to fix or is my hdd dead?

Have you tried using a different SATA Cable?

Boot override to the HDD, see if it picks up Windows. Else, you'll have to re-install windows.

As long as you don't need your data on it from before, you can simply just install windows via [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .

Did you have any other devices plugged in when you installed windows?
