Details:
Developer(s): M2H, BlackMill Games
Engine: Unity
Platform(s):
Microsoft Windows
Xbox One
PlayStation 4
Linux
Release: 28 April 2015
Mode(s): Multiplayer

Overview/Synopsis:
Verdun is the first multiplayer FPS set in a realistic World War One setting. The merciless trench warfare offers a unique battlefield experience, immersing you and your squad into intense battles of attack and defense. Verdun is part of in the 1914-1918 WW1 Game Series, with the second entry Tannenberg taking players to the Eastern Front.

The game takes place on the Western Front between 1914 and 1918, in one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history. The developers were inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun in 1916. The game offers 4 distinct game-modes with many historically accurate features such as realistic WW1 weaponry, authentic uniforms, horrendous gore, and maps based on the real battlefields of France and Belgium.

Gameplay:
Verdun is more of a relaxed FPS game that is more real to life than most. Gameplay is fairly slow but this is mainly down to the fact most of the maps are open and youd get shot at the moment you make a move. The amount of maps is fairly limited but the ones on offer give a good job of variety. Some are a lot more open than others, white there are a couple which dedicate themselves to trench warfare. So overall the selection of maps suffices with the current game thats in place. There are currently 4 game modes to chose from Frontlines, Attrition Warfare, Squad Defence & Rifleman Deathmatch. Each offering a different style of play from Free-for All to 4-man squads fighting 12 AI players in and endless game mode. So I personally love the amount of options you have to play. The amount of weapons however, did impress me. 90% of the guns are true to the era so most are bolt action iron sighted mights of God. But there are a couple of semi-auto weapons available if you so please. Each weapon comes with the option of 3 attachments, usually a quick reload, bayonet or a sight of some sort. But honestly, you dont need anything more. Any more and it wouldnt be believable to the time its set in.

Overall the gameplay is good, few bugs here and there and the movement is a bit clunky, but in general it has the potential to be a good game. It just needs active players and better feedback so the devs can fix the things that count.

Graphics:
Verdun uses the Unity Engine which is actually very powerful in its own right. And the devs havent gone silly with trying to make the game look insane. Its very balanced. Gun models are brilliant and seem to be like nothing ive personally seen before. Player models are decent, not brilliant, but decent. Made better by the inch perfect uniforms that were custom styled for this game alone with help from historians from that era. The in game options (PC version) are really good for a game of this size. You can customize pretty much anything you want to suit your preference or your PCs capability. So for such a small dev team, the amount of options is very good.

Controls:
Standard controls for the game are pretty decent, I personally only had to change a couple to suit my needs. But for the most part, the stock control layout is fine. You shouldn't have to change the stock layout as there arent that many functions to begin with. But if you do have to change something to suit you, the game has the option for custom keybinds.

System Requirements (PC):

MINIMUM:
OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10
Processor: Intel Core2 Duo 2.4Ghz or Higher / AMD 3Ghz or Higher
Memory: 3 GB RAM
Graphics: Geforce GTX 960M / Radeon HD 7750
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 12 GB available space

Overview:
In my opinion, the game is good. A little rough around the edges but overall a good game. It needs more activity to make me play it more. The game seems to be actively supported which is promising so I hope the future for this game is good and I look forward to seeing what new features they bring to the table.

I give Verdun an 8.
After my 240 Hours on it, I can say it is really fun but it is a game I struggle to stay on for a long time, It can get really repetitive really easy.
With Verdun 2 on the horizon, I cannot wait

Seems like it'd be a fun game, actually never even heard of this which is weird I try to keep up with Xbox one fps games. Going to have to watch some gameplay and make a decision
