Police in Finland say they have shot a man who reportedly stabbed several people in the south-western city of Turku.
The man has been taken into custody after being shot in the leg, police say.
Police have warned other attackers may remain at large, and asked people to stay away from the city centre.
The incident reportedly took place in the Puutori-Market Square area. One image showed a body on the ground.
Finnish broadcaster YLE said at least two other people had been injured in the incident.
Other reports spoke of five or six victims. There has been no official confirmation of casualties.
A tweet from South-West Finland police at 16:40 local time (13:40 GMT) read: "Several people stabbed in central Turku. People are requested to avoid the city centre."

The Turun Sanomat newspaper said several ambulances were at the scene and police were carrying out checks on public transport.
Several buildings were evacuated, and police officers investigated a number of people in a nearby shopping centre - but did not link them to the attack.
Eyewitness Jesse Brown told the BBC: "I saw police shoot a person, a man I think. People were running and there was talk about a knife attack, possibly multiple perpetrators."
A later Twitter post by police read: "The police are searching for possibly more perpetrators in Turku."

Briton Lee Hills, from Sunderland, sent the BBC a photograph of the scene of the incident. He was being kept in police lockdown in a pub about 200m from the scene.
Another witness, student Anttoni Numminen, said he had been playing pool in a bar when he heard gunshots. People began rushing into the bar, he said, and "the place immediately went on lockdown."
"We are getting messages from family and friends that there were people with knives," he said.
Finland's Prime Minister Juha Sipila said his government was monitoring the situation closely. The interior minister and national police commissioner also said they were travelling to the city.
Security was also increased at key sites in the southern capital of Helsinki, where armed police could be seen at the central train station and the airport.

EDIT:
A stabbing attack in Turku, south-west Finland, has left one person dead and around eight injured.

Police have covered a body lying in the middle of the street with a white cover, with several other bloodied victims treated on the ground.

I never really go into typing big long paragraphs on the news topics cause it leads to debates and stuff and I'm too lazy for that but horrible to see what happening here and Barcelona in the past 2 days.

Imagine we lived in a happy world where everyone got along.

Seems like the world cannot go a single day without terrible news coming from somewhere.

Credit to the Finnish Police for shooting and arresting the suspect as quick as they did, as awful as it is, it could've been worse.

I'm off to Turku in a couple months so hopefully I'll see more police/security around the hotspots and transport areas.

One of the victims was a mother who was stabbed from behind then again in the neck.

This image is been circulated as the main suspect.

The comment says "this is the stabber"

Reports of the police shooting the suspect in the upper leg also gives some credibility to this image.

When I was first reading the article, it seemed to mention an elderly woman and young boy were the initial attacks, then a woman pushing a stroller (which I'm assuming is the mother that was killed.)
