Wow I've been on holiday to this exact place.
It's strange looking at places I've walked in and thought were idyllic turned into scenes filled with bodies and twisted metal.

As for the barrier discussion, Las Ramblas is filled with people pretty much all of the time and people walk on the roads too.
Even if there were vehicle barriers along the sides of the pedestrian area, the amount of cars that use these roads means that walking on the roads is a safe option, so they would have had plenty of targets walking in the road anyway.

I'm actually surprised that they didnt manage to kill more people given how busy this place is.

I've been keeping up with this on the news 1 dead so far and still on-going, horrible to see this kind of stuff happening I think I heard 30 injured and a few severely injured

ISIS has claimed responsibility for this terrible attack in Barcelona. 13 people are now confirmed dead, 50+ are injured.

This is getting ridiculous, honestly what is the world coming to.

I'm sure I heard it is now at 13 killed and 80 injured.

Sure sounds like there's a wider cell active in Spain, just hope the law enforcement can detain or eliminate the perpetrators as soon as possible.

2 Arrests today, neither who were the driver. 1 killed yesterday in an explosion with a range of people involved, some Spanish born and raised, alongside a French born Moroccan.
