It is "discriminatory" in a sense since it's marginalizing a community.

But I believe that this move wasn't made to specifically marginalize the whole LGBTQ community; seems to me like it was more of an economic move. I'm slightly sure that the White House made this move in an effort to put their money towards funding a stronger defense system.

I'm not 100% sure that this decision was SOLELY made from an economic standpoint but from his tweets, that's what I could determine from my own judgement.

How exactly does "confusion about one's gender" affect one's ability to handle a firearm? These are trained men and women who receive the same training a heterosexual (or a "not confused" person, to help you better comprehend) soldier received.

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has said that there will be no change to the military's policy on transgenders until the President's decision has been received by the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary has ordered an implementation of the ban.

The Chairman, General Joseph Dunford, has stated: "In the meantime, we will continue to treat all of our personnel with respect. As importantly, given the current fight and the challenges we face, we will all remain focused on our assigned missions."

We'll have to wait until Mattis comes back from his vacation to see how this ban will be carried out, if it will even be implemented.
