If you have bad rating on your black box insurance, how much do they charge you? I know it'll vary between insurer's but I just want to know.

Each company is different. You won't be fined as such I believe you just won't save much after your years premium.

Some just take away your insurance, I never got a black box and love it.

I work in insurance and I know the company which I work for don't charge anything whether your score is -10 or +10 all it would affect is your cash back on current overall premium and also your renewal price if you do choose to stay.

Also scores are responsible for pricing up your millage with the company I work for, so for example having a -10 driving score would = a higher price if you needed to top-up miles and +10 lower etc...

Hope this helped mate.

What everyone said, I've got a black box atm and I got a red score for speeding last month. I still have my insurance, same price still and they haven't said anything about it to me.

The better you drive then the better deal you will get with the same company when you come to renew.

The worse you drive then when you come to renew your insurance after a year then they will look back on the driving data and see that you've driven too fast and you will get a more expensive quote.

What I'm planning on doing is driving however I like and then change insurance company when the year is up, the new company you decide to go with won't know you have driven badly, all they see is your NCD and base it off that, your car and how many years you've driven.

Good luck!
