Organized religion is a sham, in my opinion.

Some people go to church as a way to feel better about themselves at the end of their week. They could have been the nastiest, meanest and most terrible people on planet Earth and they go to church, sit for two hours praying and believe they walk out of those doors a new person, a better person.

Some priests/fathers of some churches live better than most. They exploit their church-goers devotion to their religion to make money; all under the pretense that this money will go towards "keeping the church in conditions". This isn't all of them, just some.

Mega-churches? More like a gigantic money bank because these only cater to the rich and powerful. You don't see white trash in these mega-churches, you see privileged people who are willing to donate (or give as offering) a huge sum of money to maintain said church. I saw one in Florida, near my cousin's house and I thought it was a sports stadium. That's how ridiculously huge it was.

Most people need something to believe in, something to expect once their life comes to an end. Something that gives them peace during life because they believe that there will be a better outcome rather than just rotting underground and nothing being there after death. Religion gives them this, makes them feel full and secure.

I've only been to church about 5 to 6 times during my lifetime. You meet some great people there who don't try to push religion down your throat and you meet some people who are so close-minded about what they believe in, these are mostly just senior citizens who are more conservative.

Organized religion has been and always will be a sham. It's been that way since the Crusades, when "brave explorers from Europe came to the Pope's call to go fight the forces of Muslim evil in the Holy Land". But that's just my two cents, everybody's got their own opinions and beliefs and I respect that.

This is a hot button issue and should be treaded carefully when speaking about it, seeing as how there are many believers and non-believers of religion in general, not just organized.

Church is corrupt IMO, pointless and a sham. If you stood back and didn't know what church was and looked at it from above, it a bunch of people worshiping some guy on 2 planks of wood and a smaller guy at a table giving out cardboard and wine while he sings you sing with him, all for an hour. (This is my religion anyways) It's pointless and I dont assosiate with it. Im not atheist or anything, i'm just not bothered.

Depends on what you mean by 'church.' In them in general? Don't care for them since I'm not religious. Smaller ones where maybe people like to go to be around similar people? Cool, good for them. Megachurches? Not a fan at all. Preachers ripping off people that go there is gross. Making millions off of vulnerable people is gross.

As for your last comment, those just aren't the same thing. The universe just being here and life developing over time is not the same as us making things as a species. Nothing HAD to put us here. It just happening through natural means is a possibility. I mean with your logic in the last post, if something put us here, then something else had to put that there, correct? Church could be filled with useless information. The religion of that church is not the only religion. There are thousands of religions and gods. Prove to me a creator exists, and then prove which one(s), of the thousands, exists. Then, we can talk about the legitimacy of church.
