I just bought a phone and the girl told me it was unlocked but to my suprise I put my sim in and it said that it's locked to a carrier so now I can't just use it under Wi-Fi because of the SIM Activation screen, is there a way to bypass it.

You would have to get it carrier unlocked if you want to use the phone with another carrier. Don't know where you're located so can't really help you find a place, but just call your local cell phone shops and ask if they offer this service. I don't think big phone companies will do this for you, but it's worth giving them a call and telling them about the situation.
