Now to get into detail as to what happened to me. I was trying to get my ram to run at its rated speed 3,000mhz wasn't quite able to (I'm a noob to the PC world so I don't know what I'm doing) I enabled the xmp profile on bios which showed the speed would be at 2,933mhz 1.35v I left everything else to auto (timing etc.) saved and quit out of bios my PC then boots on and off roughly 4-5 times without any weird noises beeps etc. I tripped out but said maybe that's normal.

I then go to the gigabyte app saw the system info say DDR was at 2,100mhz, so I said maybe that didn't work so I went into bios again and left the xmp profile enabled and manually set the speed to 3,200 still was at 1.35v maybe cranking to 1.38v or 1.41v, I still left the timings etc. to auto and when I saved and quit bios my PC booted on and off 4-5 times. I went into the gigabyte app saw that this time it said DDR was somewhere around 3,129mhz and I said ok it's going roughly 100mhz over the rated speed that should be no biggie but I tried to to continuously get it to exactly 3,000mhz or close so of course I repeated what I did several times which involved my pc doing a lot of the weird 4-5 times of turning on and off like I stated before and then I said I have 2 sticks of 8gbs of ram maybe they're in the wrong slot and so I found out they were.I unplugged everything to move the ram into the correct slot and I was also trying to fix the LED lighting that my case has as it wasn't working.

After all that tweaking which I had guidance on, I put my PC back onto my desk I plugged just the power chord into the power supply to see if I fixed the led lighting my case has, pressed the power button and that's when I heard a pop and saw a almost medium size spark shoot out of the vent next to where I plugged the power chord into the PSU, I didn't hear sounds of it booting or see any lights from my PC. I then unplugged it plugged it back in still no answer from my PC I used a different cable to plug into the power supply still no answer so I said well I guess I fried the PSU what I'm speculating is the power surge I had the power chord connected to that has 5 other things connected to it and on caused for my power supply to pop as I guess it couldn't handle everything connected to it but what's weird is everything was still on the power surge was still on and everything connected to it still is getting power it's just my PC I tried a different outlet still no luck I also didn't see any smoke or smell anything weird I didn't bother smelling the inside cause I was scared and shocked.

I then unplugged everything and issued a RMA now getting a new one what I'd like to know is the possible cause and how to get my ram to run at rated speeds below is exactly what I have with this RIG, also should I buy a new power surge if so which one should I get that isn't over $25 unless going over $25 ensures some good stuff for my setup and is there a possibility that I blew out other components from this happening? Any help will be greatly appreciated remember I'm a REAL NOOB understand a bit of the basics maybe less than basics lol but my dad is a computer wiz but I can't reach out to him all the time as he's busy.

A couple of things stick out to me.

I tripped out but said maybe that's normal.

Can you expand on this? You tripped your power? Does this happen all the time? Even without your PC? Did this happen before you got your PC?

After all that tweaking which I had guidance on

What exactly did you "tweak". It might help us understand what might have caused your issue.

Also, I had an EVGA 850W P2 PSU that was faulty so It could have even been the PSU. Who knows.

When I said I tripped out that was meaning that I freaked out about my PC turning on and off 4-5 times but figure it was normal. What I meant by tweaking was trying to get my ram to run at it's rated speeds until I realized it was in the wrong slot my mobo wanted for me to use DDR4_1 and DDR4_2 I had used DDR4_1 and DDR4_4 so I figure I correct that and I also was trying to get the leds where the power button and near the phanteks name on the bottom to light up cause it wasn't connected. Could I have possibly damaged other components?

Shouldn't have. Your PSU may have not liked the constant power reboots.

When a PC turns off 4-5 times at a time, that normally means the overclock isn't stable and it can't POST. It will then reset to default settings and boot from there.

Your RAM is rated for 1.35V. Don't go any higher than that.

Also, RAM on Ryzen is super temperamental. Download the latest BIOS updates from your motherboards manufacture and have a look at the notes to see if they have implemented Memory updates.

When I was playing with the ram as I said in my long paragraph it said it was at I believe 1.38v I would have liked to see if moving my ram to the right slots would've fixed everything but PSU popped unfortunately. Now when I get my new PSU which will be the same one how do I properly go about getting my ram to run at it's rated speeds? Also another thing I have to mention is I purchased my first game Player Unknown's Battlegrounds and of course this is before I started trying to get my ram to run at it's rated speeds the game was running horribly frames were dropping screen froze for like 5-7 seconds unfroze and immediately froze again the game was just really really glitch it was as if my PC couldn't run it which I highly doubt because I know I have descent specs any advice on that?

This is how my BIOS is currently. Please don't adjust your settings the way I have. You'll probably have a dead motherboard // CPU.

Now my disclaimer is out of the way, I can show you how I've set it up. Okay, see where it says DRAM frequency, you should have a little drop down box like so if you click on it. Use that to determine your RAM speed.

Set it to 2667, see if it is stable. In that, it doesn't constantly reboot. If it doesn't and you can play games, keep going till you hit 2933. That will be as close as you get to 3000Mhz.

If your on 2933 and stable but you want to play around a bit more, you can always adjust your timings. On the side of your RAM stick, you'll have the timings. Enter them in manually and don't change them yet. See if your stable again. Then, bring them down 1 at a time. If you crash, leave and don't worry about it. If you just want to get up and running, don't worry about timings.

Ok will try this I also have the latest bios which is F6. What I was just going to do was enable xmp profile and choose the only profile which was profile 1 leave everything on auto and save and quit without touching timings and voltage as I wouldn't know what to set it to and generally don't know how to play with that stuff. I truly appreciate the help your giving me.

Also my timings left at default are the same as yours except tRAS is 35. Another thing to add is it good to enable xmp profile as I read somewhere saying it's basically a automatic overclocking tool so it'll automatically set everything to what's recommended. Now with timings not fimilar on what it is all I know is that the lower all the numbers are the better that the memory will be I also wouldn't really know what to look for after messing with timings. Another thing to add is with the specs I stated I have wouldn't it be ok to overclock my CPU to the rated 3.7 ghz or go lower and set it to 3.6ghz with the stock fan?
