Anywhere with abit of meat inbetween the needle and the bone the pain will be less. I have one i got it on my chest and even though that area i was told was painful it wasnt that bad.
Go on TTG/Facebook/Insta or talk to your artist, most of them are pretty cool.

As for prices like above said they vary. Contact a few locals. I found tattoo shops seem to charge more than a single artist.

I was thinking maybe top of the arm and pretty detailed but black and white (Not Colour)
I don't want it too big either but not a cheap job

Price wont change dependant on colour, you'll be looking at a price per hour on your tattoos. Sometimes certain artists will give you a straight price for the full work.

My advice would be look at some of the best tattoo places in your area, do you research on some great artists and choose one. Next thing to do would be arrange a consultation, go in, say what you want and discuss it there and then.

That way you can figure out and finalise a design as well as sort something to fit your sort of price range.

I'm just looking for a rough price of what it may be

I've had tattoos done at very low quality places and high quality places, so if you're looking for a rough estimate of an upper arm tattoo which is good quality then probably upwards of £250 but I'd say if they go above £500 then you're being ripped off.
That depends on deposits as well though, I've had to put down £25 and £50 deposits per sitting, so that makes up quite a bit of the cost too.

But the best way to find out is to just ask someone. It also depends on whether or not you're going to have it designed or go with a design you want.
That could add a bit to the price if they are designing it.

Also, when it comes to pain go by the rule of the 'middles' - which I just made up off the top of my head.
Middles of the arms, middle of the legs, middle of the back, and the middle of your body - stomach, lower ribs, etc. - are the most painful places.

But seriously I don't have a very high threshold for pain and I have had the inside of my elbow tattooed, which is supposed to be one of the most painful places because of the amount of nerves running through there, but it didn't hurt as badly as I thought it would.
I think tattoo pain is overhyped quite a bit. Your first thought will probably be, "This is what all the fuss is about?"

I currently have 3 tattoos 2 on my forearm and 1 on my calf, personally the calf hurted a lot less the only part that hurt a little bit was behind the knee on the nerves. But I over thinked the pain of a tattoo it's not as bad as people say.

As of prices everyone is different you just have to ask around!

Make sure to ask to see there work and also get them to draw what you want, if you don't like what they draw then walk away don't feel bad for wasting their time it's your body have something you really want
