Oh I see thats what i was kind of thinking. Also was thinking maybe they did it because they are working on GTA 6 or something like that.

I wouldn't expect to start hearing about GTA 6 any time soon. GTA 5 is still very much alive and they are constantly releasing new dlc. Plus they're getting ready to release red dead 2. They've been actively combating modded money and this was their last resort in my opinion. The fact that they are offering incentives like giving all players the returning player bonus items, removing rank restrictions for things like the tank and dubsta, just shows they intend to keep it alive for a while
