So at the start of Season 4 they made some changes which made it quite hard to reach those higher ranks, even for those good players. They've just announced over on reddit that they've made further adjustments in order to make the higher ranks more easily obtainable.

This is good news for me as I've been stuck in low silver when last season I was high gold.
