I want to record xbox audio (not gameplay) so I'm streaming it to my windows 10 laptop and recording it from the xbox app. My question is what software would you use to record the audio from the xbox app in high quality? Software must be free. Thanks a lot!

you would need a basic audio recorder, really any one that can support two inputs. One from your mic, and the other from your soundcard to pull the audio.

You could do this with OBS and no video, just direct it to record your audio, and add another to record your soundcards audio.
