002 wrote This is why you never buy anything used before seeing it work. It's always buyer beware.

In this case you have a couple options. You can simply let it go, or you can try to get your money back.

You have the guys phone number, barrow a family members phone and call this guy saying you are detective _______ with the BBB investigating a complaint on reports of a non working appliance sold as working. Give them the customers info and the time and date that they did the install and ask for their side of the story. Of course never let them know that you are the actual customer, but imply that the customer wants to bring up legal action, then after a couple hours try to call them from your phone.

Does the fridge have an ice maker / water spout? If it does, is water coming out? A simple issue could be that they never hooked up the water, or if they did they forgot to turn it back on before leaving your house.

Impersonating a police officer does not sound like a good idea if you're going to bring it to court.

The BBB has nothing to do with the police. BBB stands for Better Business Bureau. I specifically said with the BBB and not X police department so it would be legal in that you're not impersonating a police officer.

Looks pretty obvious that you've been scammed but then again it has its slight legitness I mean those guys wouldn't be sitting around the phone waiting to scam people cos that would take ages anyway get yourself a solicitor or a lawyer plead you're case and I hope it all goes well

Depending on the fridge you can change the temperature... are you 100% sure there is no settings on the fridge? Maybe behind it, inside on the back. In the actual freezer part?

Check everywhere.

Edit: Get the model and look on the manufacturers website for a guide or something. Hell, see if it's still in manufacturer warranty

You are going to pay more in court fees and paying your lawyers than the fridge is even worth or what you spent on it. Hope things work out anyways though.

Take any legal actions that you can, that's a lot of money.

hopefully that is the correct info on the card, doesn't seem like a scam really since they left info.
