I am currently studying for the Comptia Network+ and Comptia Security+.
The A+ is the entry level certificate, you don't have much to be worried about.
Revise the following -
Installation
Preventative Maintenance
Networking
Security and Troubleshooting

Very good route to go down if you're looking to kickstart your IT career. A lot of employers in our job sector look at experience as well as certifications, the more you have the higher the pay. Some companies offer a bonus when you pass each exam, some even pay for the exam. The company I work for does this!

Would I need a degree to go into IT
Certainly not. I got a job with just college qualifications (UK BTEC Level 3)
Work your way up the ladder and gain the experience you need
Can I get a job just with the A+ cert?
Yes of course, I didn't even have a IT certification when I got my job, just the Level 3 qualification which is very basic in the UK. I'd recommend you look at apprenticeships, a lot of companies are willing to take on young enthusiasts and train them up to high standards. I started out on an apprenticeship in 2015 and now have a full time job at the same workplace.
