So I think the previous owner over tightened a spark plug in cylinder 1 and it's extremely tight. I've tried using some force, but not enough to break it free. I don't want to strip it. How should I go about doing this?

Do I just have to force it out?

I've let the car warm up before trying to move them as that does usually make it easier but it's still tight af.

Get some penetrating oil. I 100% do no recommend trying to bully it out. Stripped threads is one things, but when they brake you will need to go to the library to get a new book of curse words because that is a disaster.

As far as oils go, auto trans fluid works wonders. Past that I'd use some PB blaster or liquid wrench. I'm not a big fan of WD-40 (I know, take away my 'murica license now), but it can work too.

Another thing that might be happening is that the plug is slightly rusted in there. Try to tighten it a little (just put a little pressure on it to see if it'll move) because if you can tighten it then you're breaking the rust out and making it easier for your oil to get in there.

Would using too much of the oil damage/contaminate the cylinder?

Don't let your car warm up first; try first thing in the morning when it's cold and haven't drove it. Metal expands when heated but brittle when cold. I suggest not forcing it to turn it instead put the socket on the plug and lightly tap with a hammer, penetrating oil, repeat. Should have it free after a couple tries.

Heat helps break free stuck threads as it makes the metal more pliable.

OP, oil will damage the cylinder if you sit there spraying the hole can of oil in the empty spark plug hole lol. Just enough to get the plug out shouldn't hurt anything.

It's the thread, I can't wiggle it, I can't seem to crack it loose without using too much force.

Throw it away and buy a new car.

Jk. Possibly take it to a local shop if you can't and get them to do it. (If they **** up they gotta fix whatever they broke for free anyways)

Make sure it's a reputable shop. If it's not they'll fix it with super glue and duct tape. Ask me how I know lol.
