I am buying a laptop with my next paycheck what would be a good software to design logos etc

If you are going down the logo design road then I'd recommend using Illustrator as it's vector based.

Illustrator, you can download the 30 day free trial off of Adobes website and there are tons of helpful videos on YouTube to help you learn the basics.

Why not be fancy and get both? Illustrator + Photoshop =


On a serious note, do try to get both. However, if you have to choose one, probably get illustrator for logo design.

For logos I'd recommend Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

If you are planning to design logos, get illustrator. Although, illustrator is pretty tough as you have to literally draw your logo then fill it in in illustrator.
