it wont be a problem if you can cover it up with a long sleeve shirt. You may look weird when your walking around with a long sleeve shirt on in the middle of summer

A couple things will determine your luck in getting a job with a tattoo on your forearm. First and foremost, what kind of tattoo? If it's something pertaining to your job (for example headers and pistons tattoo for a mechanic), or something personal like a poem or something for a relative, you should be good. Guns, drugs, edgy stuff, etc. is out of the question.

Next up is what type of job are you planning on having. Mechanics, electricians, carpenters, etc. are all careers that are accepting of tattoos. Lawyers and doctors generally don't have tattoos as they need to conduct themselves in a professional manor and their tattoos showing their beliefs, opinions, or otherwise usually isn't professional. Lawyers and people like that generally wear a suit or something with long sleeves so it would over the forearm.

Don't just think about the job you want today, think of what might happen. Maybe you have your dream job, and the economy tanks so you need to find another job. Now these other jobs have the pick of the litter, is your tattoo design / placement acceptable? Not only that, but I assume you're fairly young so you can do the hard physical labor like mechanics and such, but what about as you get older? Mechanics, carpenters, etc. get in poor physical shape from lifting heavy things usually the wrong way throughout their life which makes them no longer able to do their job so they need a different job to stay alive and make ends meet. Will that desk job be accepting of your tattoo design and placement?

FredNJ wrote Well law enforcement you are fine, as long as the tattoos are not Gang Related. You should be good. Any other job you shouldn't have a problem with.
Not completely true. The State Police in my state can't have any visible tattoos in uniform, which is short sleeve. But I've seen local officers with tattoos up their necks and knuckles, so.. It just depends.

well in the UK, employers cant discriminate against inked applicants unless the ink is offensive,

some places also take on tattoo'd applicants over non tattoo'd applicants with the same qualifications,

example: mcdonalds

Guhwap wrote I'm strongly considering tattooing my forearm (I have two upper halfsleeves) and I was wondering how it would affect getting jobs and such? Anyone have any experiences they'd like to share?

I know that the Public services in the UK are quite picky, such as police man, fire fighter etc but you'll just have to see on the day man, as long as there are no nazi signs or anything offensive you shouldn't be too bad

It's anecdotal but I work in an office environment where the dress code is quite strict but if I were to roll my shirt sleeves up and have my tattoo on show I wouldn't be fired or told to roll my sleeves down. I know because I have and nothing has happened. People in my office have been brought up on wearing jumpers with logos on but nobody has been brought up for having tattoos on show.

Perhaps it's just where I'm from in the UK that people don't tend to care about tattoos, but, like people have said, you can just buy concealer.
