i feel its all preference as you can see people mentioned different programs. in my opinion photoshop may be the best for youtube covers and all that stuff but regardless every program mentioned is good some programs take more practice and work then others.

This is kind of true, but not really at the same time.

For easier work yes, it's preference. But for anything other than that Photoshop wins by miles.

That's like saying a new Jeep isn't better than a old Ford Fiesta. Sure, it may be better it in some ways, since it's easier or you prefer it that way, but not in general. There's a reason one has a high price tag and one does not.

I use Paint.NET for my work, it's great! You can install plug-ins and custom brushes, so it is essentially a free Photoshop.

You can get the full version of Photoshop CS2 for free. Doesnt work too well with Windows 10 though.
